The absolute boredom of lockdown is driving me mad, so I spent the last two days ranking my top 100 albums of all-time. It was harder than I expected, as I had a "shortlist" of 300+ albums that I needed to trim down.
Obviously I won't be posting every single one on here, as I doubt many are into my kind of music, but I figured I'd give a shoutout to #100, which is the one-man band of a friend of mine, From the Vastland. He's from Iran, but he had to escape to Norway because he faces persecution for playing metal in his home country. There's actually a documentary made about him called 'Blackhearts', for those interested. He's literally one of the nicest guys I've ever met.
He wrote and recorded the Kamarikan album in his bedroom in Teheran, risking a lot in the process. He can never go back to visit his family. After he came to Norway he's had the opportunity of actually recording in a studio with other prominent musicians from the Norwegian metal scene. If you're not into extreme metal, I recommend not giving it a listen

The book his wife wrote about him after his death is a very good read and an eye opener too.
Think Rammstein have taken the mantle of my second favourite metal band ever now, obscenely brilliant band.
