What are you currently listening to?

OK one for all the Cool Cats yes you @magicjuan and @ste d' indica et al.

Not so much what I'm listening to but what should I be listening to ?

I'm completely out of touch with modern music .

Having grown up with the Beatles then prog rock and electronic ( like Wakeman Kraftwerk Oldfield and Tangerine Dream ) I'm now really into classic jazz ( obviously) and also like interesting and melodic stuff like Bonobo, Lianne LeHavas , Oh Wonder, Erica Badu. So quite a wide spectrum.

So what am I missing out on?
Wait... I'm one of the cool cats??!!!

Are you into any of the new London jazz sounds, Comet Is Coming and Sons of Kemet and all that lot? Its a loose collective of different folks all in and out of each other's bands, a horn player Shabaka Hutchings is very much the lynch pin. I also really like Yusuf Kamal and also GoGo Penguin out of Manchester.
In terms of electronic, I'd recommend Koshmicher Laufer for a fun but sophisticated take on Krautrock, and Marconi Union, again out of Manchester, they bridge the prog/electronic sound quite nicely.
I could recommend some lovely jazzy house/techno/drum and bass if you're interested, it'll be old skool some of it but top stuff.

Merci Mon ami.

I will check out those grooves.

Not sure about the new jazz. To be honest I know very little about it but I'm not a fan of avant garde like Eric Dolphy and Sun Ra.

Would echo Go Go Penguin and Marconi Union, and for a step outside, Animal Collective.
