Playing this album at as we speak. Blew me away in the seventies, still blows me away. Must have owned 4 copies of it (have an unplayed copy in the loft - bought it when vinyl was dying and it was cheap)

Loved the Stuart Adamson and theBig Country. One of the best gigs I ever saw. Sad end to a talented guy!

I must‘ve seen them over a dozen times over the years, before they split up.

Some of the smaller gigs where just electric - the Academy at Manchester Uni immediately springs to mind. The place was packed full of pissed Scots and it was more like a party than a gig.

I went to the last gig they did, on
the Farewell Tour, at the Town and Country in Leeds and the audience was openly weeping when they went off at the end.

No one ever knew what Adamson was going through, as he hid it so well.

Fields of Fire came on my mad car playlist (mostly downloaded through Limewire many moons ago. What a song. My son, who is a proper guitarist, asked a while back if I'd ever heard any Big Country and I realised in that moment that I'd failed as a father!

Don't think anyone who had heard Stuart Adamson would ever underrate him. This is the soundtrack of my courtship (35 years this year)

First saw them at Larks in the Park - Sefton Park in 1983. Part of an Old Grey Whistle Test special for BBC2.

No one knew anything about them, as they’d just formed from the ashes of the Skids.

They just blew the place away.

There’s no way, that a free gig like this would happen now. a thousand plus, pissed and stoned people, all stood on a slope, leading down to a lake !

They just blew the place away and that it was it for me.

What a show they put on! They started a song (Ulster Hall) but we were all singing "Uh, oh where did that feeling go". They stopped mid-song and played Chance! Place went mad. They knew who they were playing for. Fantastic band!!!

They`re still going, albeit with a different line up.

Bruce Watson ( guitar ) is the only original member and his son, Jamie plays on the other guitar.

Mike Peters from the Alarm was the front man for a while and he was good, they also had the bass player from Simple Minds guesting too, who was very good ( as you`d expect )

I`ve seen them a few times, in really small venues and it`s a cracking night out.

They don`t try and pretend to be the original group, they just love playing live and do covers of other groups too.

There`s not many " young people " in the crowd though lol
