What are you currently listening to?

not keen on his singing, but the music rocks :whip:

how you like Riverside?

Wasn't familiar with them. Good stuff. Sounds a bit like what would have happened if Steven Wilson had been listening to Death Angel's Act III, Skolnick's side project and Faith No More's King for a Day... late in Porcupine Tree's run, with some of the jazz influences that sneak into the bass tracks intermittently.

oh aye good call. i discovered Riverside before Porcupine Tree, so when first listening to PT the singing made me think of Riverside.

this 70's classic may be the greatest +10 min prog epic not from Pink Floyd or Magma. While searching for it to link just discovered a bemusing coincidence...Steven Wilson remastered it lol

haven't properly listened to his remaster yet...got the normal album on LP & CD and there may well be room for improvement, but often modern remasters sound too 'wall-of-noise' rather than dynamic...so bit sceptical.

Ahem:

I own a lot of Yes, but Closer to the Edge isn't among my favorites of theirs, so I gave the album you linked a pass. That would appear to have been a mistake.

Oh, it's full-on guitar nerd in here now. That is a blistering live version you have there.

While we're talking the more obscure long-form prog. I was at the show where they recorded the video for "I Am," this was in the encore and my kids were trying to drag me out of there. I was like, "Dude, there is no universe where you get me to leave during Still Remains. None."
