I missed Charlie unfortunately. My lot were on immediately before her and I had to interrupt making tea to watch them. So by the time I'd finished cooking and eating her set was over. Hopefully they'll stick it on IPlayer later. Most of the other sets are on there so I'm sure they will. I did catch Raye's set last night. Not really my thing normally but with a full production behind her it was very impressive.

Not sure about how Tyla's quick rise came about as I only really know her big singles. I should listen to more really but I just like looking at her to be honest. I find her music similar to a lot that's out there at the moment. Chappel is real old school pop though. Real catchy and camp. I thought her album was the best of 2023, but the massive rise this year was the result of TikTok i think. There were loads of viral videos of pre teen Olivia fans singing along to some very raunchy lyrics lol

Tyla's music is mainly amapiano, which is a South African/Afrikaan style which is getting a lot bigger globally now. It was originally a genre with just men in but that's changed recently. The music is pretty chilled so it works well. There is another South African/Afrikaan style called gqom which is a bit more aggressive which is also getting bigger globally. Their style of jazz is also getting big too so there is definitely a boom. I guess it might be the most obvious one to come next after the south American boom of the last few years.

Yeah I saw Raye, and a bit the same. I don't really like her loads but she is obviously really good
