What is up with Dele Alli?

We’re in the last 10 winners of the league and the last 10 winners of the fa cup.

People who don’t know us for winning things think only 4 or 5 teams can win anything in this league.

So we’re in good company with the other 90 odd league teams
I’m a 36 year old lifelong supporter who has never seen us win anything

People who don’t know us for winning things are realistic and under 45 year old

Everton winning things and known for winning things? Yes. Don’t you think so?

I find some of the overly sentimental stuff surrounding Dele Alli OTT. Considering we paid him >£11 million for 2.5 years and 9 odd games

It's not like he's not been well paid

The priority is however what is best for Everton Football Club. Winning things. Always will be

There's no sentimentality, we just want him to be a well human. He doesn't cost us any money any more. I know you've always been horrible about unemployed people but perhaps you should try to stop being a Tory.

Come on Dele.

The Sky Sports news editor claimed on 5 October that he will be on the club’s payroll only when he’s available to play.

The 28-year-old is currently nursing an injury and is using the Toffees’ facilities for his rehab.

Myers wrote on X: “As far as I’m aware a deal has been agreed in principle but that will only kick in once he’s fit and ready to play.

It’s hard to feel sentimental about someone who played twice for us. I agree it’s just about helping someone recover at zero cost to the club for the time being.

The overly sentimental stuff is entrenched in the culture of the club and was put there by Bill Kenwright and co.

There were people saying last season to "just pay the £10 million and sign him" after that interview he gave

This overly sentimental stuff, enables people to get appointed to positions at the club that they shouldn't be in, as they're not qualified or experienced enough or have never demonstrated the capability of doing them. To the exceptional level required at Everton Football Club.

It also leads to players being signed on inflated fees for huge wages on long contracts, that then don't perform. That we then have to pay even more money on, to try and move them on from the club.

Everyone knows (and the evidence is there in the form of two point deductions for example) the club has been badly run for many years, and so Friedkin will have to do a lot lot better. This includes changing the culture as well as the personnel. No disagreements there. I don’t agree sentimentality applies in the case of Dele, either he cuts it in training and in these practice matches or he doesn’t. That’s the gist of what the club is saying.
