I know now that undiagnosed ADHD was probably the biggest factor, but years of drug and alcohol abuse played a part.

Managed to kick the drugs and booze. Recently started taking medication for the ADHD and it’s made an incredible difference. As much as I sometimes feel sad about the wasted years, there’s hopefully plenty of road left ahead, so I’ll just try and make the most of it.

Not feeling the need to prove my intelligence to anybody because I know I’m smart enough. When, in reality, if I really was smart I would’ve proved it because it would’ve made my life a lot easier in the long run and I could be doing something which utilises the intelligence I clearly don’t have.

Oh and an inherent hatred for how academia, the government, big institutions or how pretty much any system really, works.

How does someone know the difference between having actually reached their potential, and simply being dissatisfied with what you have achieved?

Ie someone kicking themselves for not perusing their late desire to have been a brain surgeon / pilot / prime minister to live a life of riches, when in actually fact, they only ever had the chutzpah / skills / personality to be whatever they are doing / life they have atm?

Too many slack jawed losers on this planet filled with hubris.
