….football with me. I have sussed out that I had my life planned out, good job, wife and kids but football was unsafe without a career structure. Despite being very talented and signing for RS in 1971, I genuinely had no intention of being a footballer and disliked every moment of my 3 years there.

Footy is as much about attitude and application as it is about talent, saying that the ‘Boot Room’ set-up at RS was very odd.
Were you there the same time as Chris Lawlor ?

Did you play with Steve Peplow? I used to work with his Wife, he sadly died a few years ago now.

…..coincidentally I understand he went to my school but was quite a few years ahead of me so I never played with him. Ronnie Goodlass also but again he was older than me.

I am aware he sadly passed away.

44 years old and quite unsatisfied with my career tbh. Basically laziness in my 20s is to blame. Never really pushed myself at anything and just fell into what I’m doing now. I realised too late that there is a whole world of things to do outside of boring corporate jobs, because I never really bothered to look until it was too late

Devoid of confidence. Getting sent to a school away from my friends at 11. Being dirty poor and not being able to have clothes, shoes or footy boots above the cheapest so not getting involved with activities as being teased wasn't fun.
Then later not going to Uni as I didn't feel like that's where my level of people went.
It's all good though, my kids do everything they have a passion for and don't have to worry about not having the same level of clothes and sports gear as their friends.

Yo Huyton.

We largely control our own destiny. Blaming others is done by those who lack the fortitude to accept responsibility for their actions. I had to put a contributor on this very forum on egnore months back because they accused me of making them miserable. Take responsibility for your own problems.

Its ironic how in these discussions we always equate "potential" to money and the career ladder. In reality, potential can be defined by much more.

Employment - I'm self employed so ultimately I take out what I put in.

Sports/recreation - have done Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for about 15 years on and off. Had I stayed commited to it and trained regularly, I would be a black belt by now. Used to blame family/work but having since wisened up I realised that there is no one else to blame but myself for not making the time. Thats down to poor motivation/laziness.

Personal development - since gaining the third eye I am at peace with myself. No better feeling in the world.

Social profile - pleased with the growth of my online flock. Currently got some impressive subscriber / viewing numbers on Youtube/Paetron but I know I have the potential for more. That will be down to me and what effort and time I put into the content in the future.
