the ads.
Apart from being completely irrelevant, they are huge, almost impossible to scroll past without clicking, really annoying, really spoils the site user experience (imo). I don't want to use an adblocker, but will have to eventually as it is really getting on my tits now.
User experience is always subjective, and of course, I disagree otherwise they'd have been pulled by now.
We need adverts. Most of our traffic is now on a device, and unfortunately, I'm bent over a barrel with regards to mobile, because the old style we had have been fazed out - as I explained in the supporter lounge.
I've explored a few options, opting for the current - as most others have. Rationale - it's one ad per page, no bigger than a typical post so easy to bypass. Others include going for a smaller advert that is permanently on the screen (
Example, click on mobile)
If we secure a sponsor who seek awareness/exposure via other means, we will adjust. I'm also awaiting a response on whether or not we can exclude adverts from certain uaergroups (forum supporters) that don't violate terms of ads.
If you use adblocker on mobile, functionality will be effected which we won't be able to support as the script also impacts other functionality.
Twitter, Twitter, Peugeot, Twitter, Subaru, Twitter, Flextents (???), Twitter, Disney, Twitter.
Bottom line: Twitter.
I've not been on anything really except here, facebook and reddit after I cleaned my history/cache/stuff the other day and now I only get twitter. Bring back the russian brides ads ffs
If you're really interested, Google how they work pal.
Ultimately, if I have a business that sells pens - I can setup an advert and specifically target.outbid everyone to advertise on GrandOldTeam (or, football forums), should I think they're a good audience to buy, pens.
That's what Twitter will have done. When possible, they match a publisher dependent on your browsing history, but when not possible (or outbid), you get something random.
