Is it the mods or reps or what?

I have quite a few + reps and was green until one comment about Osman which I felt was fair.

I can't stand looking at the colour red am I destined to live this way forever on GOT forum or will my green power bar ever be restored?

:P

Haha the one guarantee of getting red is to criticise it - 3 so far AND NOT ONE BEFORE SINCE THE SYSTEM CHANGED - fair enough only one decided to make it a personal attack so that's progress of sorts but it's absolutely hilarious the sensitivity to this subject considering advocates insist it means nothing.

It's like americans and their guns

One personal criticism out of 3 illustrates the folly of saying it's not a shifty mechanism to vent at people and the justification it cuts out one line answers is nonsense the site lives on one line answers equating to "I agree" (THIS) and I disagree (YER MAR).

So while it's verbotten to nay say it among the usual suspects I will continue to view it for what it is, the "bitch switch".

Too easy.

We can't cut out all one liners, but it's there to reduce them, thereby making threads more readable.

It's designed to reduce the one line "agree" etc. posts, so don't say the reasons I'm giving are nonsense. That's it's intended function. Ok? If you think that's nonsense, please by all means notify the owner, but you'll get the same answer from him.

Could you ban Nigel please Groucho, he has negged me 6 times in the last hour, each comment included some vile sexual innuendo that I'm just not comfortable with.

Make him a mod, it's the right thing to do.

Dunno. Being a mod changes you, and not always for the better. The guy in the middle of this pic? That was Bill before he became a mod.

Which is why I personally thought the thumb system was better.

Since by thumping up (or down) a post rather than a person you specifically were addressing that statement and whetehr you agreed or disagreed, you weren't commenting on the poster as a poster. The problem with rep is it sticks with you, there's people on here who I like but will neg a specific post I disagree with, to avoid just saying nah that's stupid, and suddenly they're red and it taints all their posts. Which is why people take neg as an insult when it isn't meant to be. A down thumb doesn't have the same effect.

Also all thumbs are equal, one thumb up is one thumb down. With rep depending on who likes you and who doesn't, you could get 12 pos and one neg and still go red.

Yep. Pretty much all the neg I've received has been from people who don't like me. Targeting not the post I've made, but the person who made them. And as you say, if you've got a reppy love-in, with people building up rep power of thousands, then a single neg from one of them will cost you more rep points than 12 max-pos reps from your average match-thread poster.

You could find a marriage between the thumbs and rep: keep the rep system, only do away with ranking it via points.
