Sorry too, i dont like slagging fellow blues off, so i apologise for shouting my mouth off. I concede that they are entitled to their opinion. But I have heard quite a few lads (who i know are blues) saying they hope we get beat every game he is in charge, that just angers me. They could put a managerial team of Thomas and Collina in charge and I still wouldnt want us to lose a match.
Haha aye there’s always some that take it too far mate *coughs* but it’s like a pantomime crowd on here now. It’s so polarised that you can get away with posting surreal stuff. Dive in!

Where did we finish that season. Goes to show it's not always doom and gloom
Exactly.

I have often found with Everton that the darkest hour is just before the dawn. Times when I have given us no chance and some5hing clicks in the squad. Adversity brings out a fighting spirit at Everton that often surprises us all.

The start of the season we lost Rooney and only signed Bent felt worse.

For me though, their is still time for things to get worse. We lose James and Kean and don't sign replacements (we won't have time. Not with our usual snail pace) and things will look bleak. Not relegation bleak, but certainly bottom half bleak.

I never thought I'd be looking on Moyes's time at the club as halcyon days to be honest.

I reckon It's going to take Benitez 2 or 3 years to get things up and running. And we as a fan base just don't have that patience in us. Not for him

It’s strange because when we were crap we were kind of fired up to support the lads and ‘be the twelfth man’ and all come together and stay in the league. We also had much more likeable characters, they were just crap at football.
I’m looking forward to seeing a few players like Richarlison again but am I excited about a big slog that ultimately ends around 8-14th place with a manager I never could have imagined hiring? No not really.

This season is very much on the team to get the fans excited and I really hope we all feel better by half time after a big team effort and a couple of goals.

This time last week was the most pessimistic I've been, ever. Today though full of optimism. Don't ask me why, perhaps it is because Southampton are without Ings and that Danish giant. Got a funny feeling Townsend could be a shrewd signing. UTFT

Definitely today, I have never known such a fractious fan base. The awful manager choice coupled with us having to scale back our spending in the same summer makes me dread the upcoming season ,ore than any other

What was the "Bring yer Boots" game?
It feels as deflating as that.

I can't recall exactly, but we got beaten 2-1 by Blackburn at GP on the opening day, and lost to QPR maybe? in another opening fixture???

Of course, the 0-4 and 1-6 beatings we got at the hands of Arsenal were atrocious as well, though those seemed at the time to be more about the feelings after the game rather than going into it.

Today feels almost like a non-event, I have almost forgotten in parts that the season is starting.

There has always been expectation amongst Evertonians, at times much of it hopelessly and desperately misplaced, but this is the first season since the 90s that I just expect nothing more than treading water, and a dull, dour, campaign offering no more than a few isolated moments of something approaching joy and satisfaction.

On the flip side, we always do better in adversity and despite the brouhaha, I think Benitez will prove to be a more committed, hands-on, day-to-day manager than Ancelotti was.

Not even angry anymore, just can't be arsed with it. He's there to keep us up while we cut costs I don't like it, but, I can't do anything about it

Sooner he's gone the better for me. He's the boards scapegoat. They'll let him take the blame for their unpopular decisions until the toxicity becomes too much.

Today.

Not because of the manager at all, but because of the realisation we're going to have to deal with this squad of utter cowards for another season. So we all know pretty much exactly what we're going to get going in, and it's hard to stomach.

I hate more Everton players than Liverpool ones. Easily in fact. I could deal with the Everton squad being a bunch of lovable losers, or the 'Dogs of War' - a bit crap but at least you can support them easily. But not these bunch of bells.

The silver lining is that by the end of this season, more of the ridiculous purchases will be likely be gone, one way or another.

Delph, Sigurdsson and Tosun‘s contracts will expire.

I think Iwobi And Gomes book values will be at a level where they can actually be sold without taking a FFP loss.

I’m looking at this season as a reset point, the bottom of the dip.

Got my lad his first season ticket (He’s 6) can’t wait to see his face when Zcars comes on. Actually never been more excited! COYBs!!!! However, sure we will be leaving 10 minutes early and shouting “koff Benitez ya tet!!”
The siren and Z cars is the best bit, adrenalin pumping after a couple of pints before the game, full of hope.
Then the game kicks off and wrecks everything
