Where will Everton finish 2023-24

I don’t know about this, when he went to Bournemouth I thought they were guaranteed relegation, but he kept them up with about five games to spare.

Wolves still have a lot of quality.
The underlying stats showed that he was pretty lucky to keep them up + do they? They’ve sold most of their best players.

They’ve still got the same back four as last season, and got likes of Nunes, Sarabia and Neto, all good internationals.

Whereas our catastrophic problem was our strikeforce, we’ve swapped out one player (Simms) for another kid who has about 3 professional goals. When he eventually signs.

We aren’t in any position to be confident this season is going to be any different than the last two, unless the situation changes by 1/9.

Atm it does look bleak for sheff and wolves so hopefully they're down there. Luton should be down there and hopefully maybe Forrest, Fulham and Bournemouth get hit with second season syndrome. Which means 7 teams up for relegation along with us.

I'm not convinced that a full season of trench football will lead to anything other than a continuation of what's sadly become the norm now, but I'm relieved at how poor Luton and Sheff Utd are said to be looking.

the super computer thinks we are going to score 2 goals less than 600 mil spenders Chelsea this season

No they don’t. They’ve lost Collins who was arguably their best defender. Also lost further depth in that position as Coady is gone again. Moutinho, Neves, Jimenez and Traore all gone. Rumours Podence might be heading out too. I think they have pretty strong attacking options in Cunha, Nunes, Sarabia and Neto, yes, but their squad balance is pretty terrible. They’re in a similar situation to us where they have 4 or 5 good players and the rest are average, and their squad depth (of players you’d actually want to play) isn’t great.

Yes I forgot about Collins, but they have kept the majority of their defence.

Since Christmas, the league table would show Wolves as 8th. They haven’t shown themselves to be a club in freefall, I think the pile on about relegation is OTT. Hopefully am wrong and they go down.

A lot of that is to do with Lopetegui. They were atrocious before he joined. Perhaps O’Neil will pick up from where he left off but I doubt it, especially with the losses this transfer window.

18th.
  • We've not made any significant investment in a squad that stayed up by the skin of its teeth last season.
  • Although we have a better manager than we did at the start of last season, the weakness of our players and overall malaise surrounding the club and ownership is too much to overcome again.
  • DCL will undoubtedly be unfit for most of the season. Any medium/long term injury to just one other key player (Pickford or Tarkovski especially) will be terminal.
  • This is likely to be the last full season at Goodison Park, and Everton being Everton, it is written in the stars that we christen our new ground outside the Premier League.
