It’s a mad season and 55 points will see you in the bottom half. A lot of very decent teams and I don’t think 2nd and 11th will ever be closer.

....29 points at this stage is a brilliant platform to launch a serious bid for Europe. The only concern is this season there’s a real divide between the top and bottom half of the league, with those at the top relatively close.

From this point we could get amongst City, the Reds, United, Chelsea, Spurs and Leicester. Top 7 should be a minimum, a EL place realistic.

As unlikely as it is - La Decima is the dream. Everyone whose got a birthday between now and August, you know what to wish for when you blow out those candles!

Weirdly enough any team who can establish themselves in the top 4 will at some point have a title challenge. They’ve all done it and arguably even Spurs should have won one. If we can get in the top 4 at any point under Ancelotti then stay there for a season or two then it’s likely a title challenge will happen at some point.

Injuries will be huge. Look what’s happened to Wolves since they lost Jimenez, Southampton have dropped a level since losing Ings. This is one player from these sides. If Leicester lose Vardy we saw how poor Iheanacho is yesterday. Same with Villa and Watkins.

What’s promising is that we’ve lost James Digne Allan and Richarlison at times and are still in this position. If we wake up tomorrow and Kane or Son has an injury, or Mane does, then that blows the season wide open.

If we can keep our best players fit then Carlo will have us up in there.

Liverpool City and United will easily be in there (all of them will probably be ahead of us once games in hand are played). There’s at best one spot that really should be between Chelsea and Spurs but because they’re both having a wobble just now it gives us an opportunity.

We won’t make it though unless we keep our top players fit. This current injury crisis is ridiculous as most of are rivals are at full strength.
We beaten Chelsea, Arsenal and Leicester without 3 of our best players.
What gives you the idea that Spurs and more so Chelsea are going to go on winning runs?
My main worry towards the end is that we still have to go to City/Chelsea/RS/Arsenal and OT, all places we struggled with in recent years.
Still got Leicester and City and Spurs to play at home as well. Top 4 is in our hands.

I think its important we don't finish below any club outside of the commonly recognised top six.

So that means finishing above Leicester, Southampton, and Wolves.

This year, I'd be confident of finishing above Southampton and Wolves, we'll do well to finish above Leicester.

Outside of that, I'd like to think we can maintain an advantage over Arsenal even if they have a good patch.

I'd be very surprised if we finished above Chelsea, and they would probably get a new manager boost if Lampard was sacked.

I think 6th would be the pinnacle this year for us, but we can't afford another extended bad spell.

....not forgetting we lost games when some of those players were in the team because we were conceding too many goals. Ancelotti has found a way to win without them, he needs to find the right formula with them.

It's far too tight to confidently forecast anything. None of the teams around us is doing better than last season and some are doing worse.

We keep saying our squad is too thin to compete at the very top, but if we could keep picking a starting 11 from our best 15, which we are doing right now, we
might stay near the top.

By that I mean that we've been short 4 or 5 of our best players for weeks and we're doing OK.
