If Lampard hits the ground running, it should hopefully be a case of creeping into a respectable position once the mid-table clubs are safe and have stopped trying, like often happened after terrible starts under Moyes.

It's more hope than expectation for me, though. These aren't the manager and players I'd have picked.

If we got beat 3-0 by City last game of the season we'd have finished eleventh with 0 goal difference - the ultimate ghost season.

Think we should aim for that this year round, the phantom year. We can then forget about it and move on

18th and Relegated. I think this time survival will be a 'bridge too far' for us. Not that it matters to me, I support Everton because they are Everton, not because they play in the Premier League.

I'm optimistic about the future, but I've gone for 14th. I don't expect dramatic improvements to happen immediately.
Provided he keeps us up, I won't be judging Lampard based on what's left of this season, but I am looking forward to next season.
