If Lampard hits the ground running, it should hopefully be a case of creeping into a respectable position once the mid-table clubs are safe and have stopped trying, like often happened after terrible starts under Moyes.

It's more hope than expectation for me, though. These aren't the manager and players I'd have picked.

I agree, if we are progressing to safety then I hope than doesn't mean the players can lapse once again into this comfort mode where they are all on holiday in their heads. It wasn't acceptable in previous seasons, and it shouldn't be, this.

There are plenty of points to be won. For me, its not the ultimate league placing that's key since we are more than likely to finish bottom half or worse but it would be great to end the campaign with some hope. Other teams throw in the towel also with European qualification gone and/or nothing to play for in mid-table. There are even possibilities against the top 4 sides if they have nothing riding on games past a certain point.

We've been conned by having the worst manager in our history. We are a comfortable mid table side so will rebound to at least 13th

I’m fairly certain we’ll be okay. Getting the first win is vital and then it builds momentum. I’m more optimistic now than I was a couple of weeks ago but that could all be blown out of the water come full time at the weekend!

FA Cup is still there. *knock wood*. Win Saturday and it's feasible. Of the 16 left, at least 5 will be Championship or lower, more if there are upsets, a few PL sides are gone, Arsenal's out, one of Spurs or Brighton will be out.

A Cup would be massive. Staying up + cup = huge success.

7pts next 3 games....i think he'll have a massive effect on the team mentally and theyre all going to be feeling a wave of optimism now.

Front foot weve looked very good at times this season...so if thats what to expect for 90mins then i think Id be confident.
