Where's the Gordon money?

The money was there to spend, just no one wanted to come. Unless we started dropping 100k p/w on players who don't deserve half of that and I'd rather we didn't sign anyone in that case.

The entire window what actual formal bids were made?

The only ones which have been 'officially' confirmed were Sarr and Beto.

Why would Watford gamble their promotion for £2mil?

Why would Udinese take £23mil when they didnt want to sell unless his clause of £35mil was met?

Sulemana we were told was an official bid (after a verbal offer below Southamptons was made) which was then denied...same as Gallagher.

There werent any reasonable bids made.

If they were honest, then I’d be more at ease.

Instead Moshiri went on record saying “We’ll get our striker”, if they’d have turned around and said we’ve got a limited budget, and we need the money to satisfy the stadium/FFP, at least I’d understand.

Embarrassing ourselves with lowball offers for players like Ismailia Sarr, putting less than 10% upfront, it’s just the nature. Go down with dignity, and try to keep what crumb of hope fans have alive.

Its like the fake bids we used to make. Or Kenwright used to make.

Pathetic.

Bill taking a swim in Arteta & Gordon money.

Considering our net spend over last season and this was astonishingly low before selling Gordon, I can’t see any reason that they make to be truthful.

If our budget was effectively zero after we haven’t really spent anything other than fees we have brought in, then it just shows how abjectly they have been running the club.

(And that includes the manager pay offs)

What you are saying doesn't make sense. Even when we were poor (i.e. no Gordon money) we still managed to get a few loan deals in. There is no way we went into this with a masterplan to come out with zero players. If that was the case the messages would have been from summer we have no cash due to regulations and we'll have to even sell players to balance the books.

Everything coming from the club was the opposite. I'm telling you now everyone who had the choice of two clubs chose the other and the ones that didn't, either turned their noses up at us too or wanted an Everton tax and for once the club stood its ground and wouldn't pay the ridiculous prices.

People can't beat the club with a stick for buying players like Dele for 100k + a week and then the next year say why aren't we getting in anyone - We don't care at what cost.

So you wouldn't have took the view that not getting anyone in is an even bigger gamble on are entire future in the prem.
I would have sooner made a fight of it.
How much is not being in this league going to cost us long term,
It will be a lot more than taking a hit on player a high wage.

The Deli Ali, Maupay and Dwight business suddenly looks even more relevant because
its now clear that EFC is short of spending cash and those three imposters were the cause.

That would be fine to blow a large load on a player who you know is going to be a definite starter and will make a difference. I presume the offer to city for Philips would have been eye wateringly expensive both in cash up front for the loan and wages. The only problem is why come to Everton?

End of last season we would have probably had players thinking I'll have some of that for the support that was shown, now it is grim it has the opposite effect. In recent times we've been able to use our so called 'big club' pull to beat off other mid table clubs and take unused big wage players from the likes of utd. That all went to crap this year.

So put yourself in Thelwell's position, he's exhausted the list of targets he had and now we are on to whose available, he can get this foreign player for 20-30 million and they want 80k to come but chances are they are going to be no better than Iwobi, McNeil etc. Do you bring them in just have another body and check a box, but in the summer you've reduced your budget by x amount. We've repeatedly done this in the past to get us where we are now.

So name a lodged bid that seemed fair to you which has been in the media?

As far as i can see there werent any. Happy to be proven wrong.
