Which managerial sacking was the biggest mistake?

Who should we have kept on?

Allardyce was sacked because he had the club over the barrel and demanded an 18-month contract, which was essentially him negotiating his payoff in advance.

He was only ever supposed to be here for six months, and it's not like we tumbled down the league the following season.

18 month contract was right though, why should he come in for 6 months, it was us that had to go for his services

The Allardyce embarrassment? How exactly was that an embarrassment considering every manager since has us lower in the table?
The only thing embarrassing was Moshiri being stupid enough to sack him.
Such a good point.

Allardyce took us up six or seven places in the table and made us hard to beat. I was at the draw against the RS.

We finished 8th on his watch; right now I’d be delighted with 8th spot every season for the next ten years.

Couldve maybe gave Silva longer, he was unlucky at times in his 2nd season.

If he'd have jibbed the zonal marking, he probably wouldve kept his job

Big Joe Royle. Lost a few key players to injuries, lost a bit of momentum and given the push. Shocking decision.

On the ones on this list, they all needed to go. Its easy to forget how bad it was under all of them and the complete lack of ambition Fat Sam showed in the last few months of the season he was here.

Big wave of Silva nostalgia in here.

Interesting thing with Silva, for me, is whether we got him too soon. Has he learned from the experience and developed as a manager? It's a big job with a stack of pressure. Or is he more suited to a Fulham with fewer expectations?
That is a good summary all round.
We certainly appointed him too early in his career and only time will tell if he is the genuine article as a manager.

Certainly there is a strong argument as well that if we had kept Allyrdyce we would being a better position as a club now.

Why stop at 18 months, then?
Your saying Sam should of got a longer contract then 18 months??? And you wonder why we are skint.
18 months was fine, to actually let him work less then 18 months was the stupidest thing we've done as a club for decades.
The fact some Everton fans welcomed the sacking of a perfectly viable manager for us says a lot about our fan base, we've currently got the club we deserve

Allardyce. Sacking him wasnt the main issue, but we messed up by bringing in Silva which jeopardised the unglamorous stability Allardyce would have given us.

I think Silva was a terrible appointment and anyone choosing him is ignoring how bad he was simply because he's doing well in different circumstances.

If we just pretend for a moment that you're not an obvious wind-up account, the stupid thing was hiring a career relegation fighter for a relegation fight that was over before he took his first training session, at a time where the club was still spending enough money to have a go at playing decent football while pushing for Europe (eg exactly what happened the following season).

He had six months to show that he was capable of offering more than just desperation defending and percentage balls up the line, and he couldn't have failed more miserably.

He didnt have six months to show us anything since it was well known we were, or rather Moshiri like the idiot he is, was going to sack him. Ask your self why he was wearing red socks that time, he was laughing at us, all the way to the bank with Farhads money in his pocket
