Watching Pele the documentary on netflix. A great footballer but as good as collaborated with the Junta in Brazil.

All of them. Pele was the greatest of the old school. Comparing him to modern footballers is just daft as the game has moved on, neither could you put CR7 or Messi in a team back then.

Maradona bridged the gap between old and new and his skill all the while players were physically trying to knock is block off was a sight to behold.

Messi and Ronaldo are difficult to choose between but I've always maintained put Messi in this Everton team and you probably wouldn't get much out of him but Ronaldo would make a difference just because he can score all kinds of goals. No doubt Messi is technically a better footballer though, in a less physical Maradona sort of way.

For me it’s Cristiano Ronaldo because he’s done it in England, Spain and Italy, arguably the biggest, toughest and most competitive leagues in the world and he has reinvented himself after losing his pace into being an all out center forward. He’s had three distinct careers as tricky winger, explosive wide forward and center forward. That takes serious dedication and determination and I respect that.

When it comes to natural talent I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do what Ronaldinho did personally.

No doubt Messi is a genius, but Ronaldo is the greatest of this generation if not ever for me.

To have such longevity, to be successful in three of the top leagues and on an international level, to be on cusp of most decorated International player of all time is quite the acheivement.

Messi made the great Barça teams unbelievable, but that’s the issue they’re the greatest team ever. Ronaldo dragged Portugal to a Euros final, made lesser Madrid teams win Champions Leagues.

Messi is without doubt one of the greatest ever, but not Cristiano level... just.

I was born after Pele or Maradona, so cannot comment on those two.

But Messi is overrated, in comparison to CR7. Messi has ghosted in every international tournament he played in. Messi has never played outside of his comfort zone at Barcelona. Where as, Ronaldo has won international trophies with his country, he has performed for 3 different clubs in 3 different leagues and has won more CLs and trophies in general. His record in the CL knockout rounds is far more superior to Messi and I think the football community has the general consensus that the CL knockout rounds are representative of the pinnacle of high standard football.

Didn't see two of them play, so I'd go Messi...but he'd have to scrap it out with someone not on the list.
