Great film, massively underrated. Michelle Pfeiffer was amazing in it too.No point me adding to this thread now. You've said exactly what I was going to say. I love him in Frankie and Johnny too.
There's two...Harrison Ford
James Stewart was excellent in both comedy and thrillers, as were a lot of the stars of the time. It's about range, Day-Lewis scores high here. Brando was the part for a time. There's not many that've done comedy as well as drama, so although a lot of his parts are similar, that Pesci has 'My Cousin Vinny' in his highlights reel is a step up against most. And let's be fair, it is quality funny. The laughs Kotto get's in 'Midnight Run', and being in 'Alien'. A good actor knows good parts when they read them. Mentioned Hackman earlier, so a generation after, I've gotta say Michael Keaton. What a career.
Yes I like a few of the old actors John Garfield was very good but was blacklisted in the 1950’s McCarthy hearings and died not long after. Paul Schofield was an excellent actor on stage and screen with a terrific clear voice as was James Mason.James Stewart was excellent in both comedy and thrillers, as were a lot of the stars of the time.
James Mason was great, just added gravitas to anything he was in. John Mills was another of my favourite, love him in this scene.Yes I like a few of the old actors John Garfield was very good but was blacklisted in the 1950’s McCarthy hearings and died not long after. Loved early Pacino but thought he over acted in most films from Scent of A WomanMay have been done here before, apologies if it has.
Loads of great actors over the years but who’s your favourite ? For me, it has to Al Pacino. Such a brilliant actor who has played so many memorable characters in some great films. Probably Scent of A Woman is my favourite film of his, although Godfather runs it a close second.
