VAR is a person using a tool. VAR is a referee sat remotely in a room with the help of video replays.

Everyone can understand the human error involved in having a referee on a pitch that can't possibly see everything during a game being played at full speed but it's a lot harder to understand mistakes being made when a referee has 2 or 3 minutes of slowed down replays to watch.

The VAR tool is absolutely fine, it's the human interpretation of the information that tool is giving them that is in question.
VAR is also a get out clause when excuses are required.

Normally when I look at our next fixture I hope for a ref I've not heard of before so normally a new one. Because It seems every time we have an 'experienced' ref they find a way to screw us over somehow. I'm not looking forward to Anthony Taylor reffing tonight at all.

It should be exactly the opposite. VAR should be the reason that no excuses are required.

As I said, we can understand human error on the pitch but those errors should be corrected 100% of the time by a referee that can look closely at video replays to get the decision right. We should be in a position where the rules are simple enough to be followed by referees that understand the rules enough to make the correct decisions when they can see the key moments of a match from several TV angles in slow motion.

In theory there should never be any need to question the decisions made by VAR. Offside should be a binary decison, handball should be a binary decision, balls crossing the goal line should be a binary decision. The only thing that really comes in to question as a subjective matter is intent. That's always going to be a grey area.

dean and moss retiring this season doesnt even provide any comfort when you see the rest are as bad or somehow even worse.

Probably the worst season I've ever watched for referee incompetence. It used to be one or two every now and again but now, every week, we see unfathomable decisions. Overall, which one of this bunch is the most cluesless ?
There is some pretty fierce competition to find the most garbage from that motley crew.
Seeing all the name listed the way you have done, it is actually as frightening as it galling to think that the most powerful league in European football is 'blessed' with such abject dross.
I wouldn't give any of that lot a p..s pot to handle, let alone a top flight football match.

We must remember the damning indictment of just how rubbish these egotists are when the lower leagues ask them not to officiate their games when there are no Premier games. Now that speak volumes.

They're all as bad as each other.

Inept, attention seeking little nobodies who derive self worth from doing their job poorly.

That being said, I can't wait to not see Jon Moss waddling around in what appears to be a large boys size referee kit. Looks like the plum could burst any minute.
A study carried by Sheffield University regarding football officials was an enforcement of most sane people's opinions.
Their conclusion after many interviews etc; cited that all are egotists with very little to endorse their inner belief of their ability. All were attention seekers and control freaks with extreme arrogance. The most unsurprising element of their persona was the fact the more the crowd bayed for their souls to be run out of town, the greater feeling of power they felt.
These factors were endorsed by the very fact they would not be held to question regarding their ability to make correct decisions or otherwise. It was, therefore, considered that such examination could destroy their fragile sense of security.
They are power maniacs.

(The above are a precis of the findings, but one I cannot share due to confidentialities).

Why isn't VAR on the list? VAR has been awful this season, not just for Everton, it's been awful across the board.

I was a big advocate for VAR coming in and improving the game but it looks like it's starting to make the ref on the pitch complacent because they know VAR can correct their mistakes but that's not always happening.
To be honest Buzz, there is not a lot wrong with VAR, it is how it is controlled. You know, the same clowns who are refereeing the matches.
