The problem is not Lampard, just as it wasn't Ancelotti, Silva, Allardyce or Martinez. The problem is the culture of the club, which is way too tolerant of failure and far too nice. If Lampard wants to keep his job he has to change it during this break - be ruthless, set a high standard as the expectation and then bin off anyone who doesn't meet it.
I mean to take one example - name me one captain of any winning side who has overseen, under every one of those regimes, multiple humiliations like today and remained captain? As a leader Coleman has been the constant presence in the dressing room and can anyone honestly say that he has achieved anything? I am sure he is a nice bloke and that all the squad like him, but that is 1940 thinking when what we urgently need is Zhukov before the gates of Moscow in 1941 thinking - inspire, command, shoot anyone who lets the side down and win.
