Ferguson won 1 game drew 2 and lost a cup game , we turned up against Chelsea but got out classed in the other 2 league games but scrambled 2 draws lets not make it out he was that good
I think that's a decent return given the context and would take that now for the next three games.

1 win and 2 draws in the league is what Benitez managed over the past 12 games.

Rooney? I’ll always have a soft spot for him but as a manager I’d be surprised if he succeeds at the top level (can’t knock his efforts at Derby though).

The key for me is that it’s not “who after Benitez?”

It’s finding the right football strategy for the next 5 years by paying top money for a top Director of Football, and then with their judgement paying top money for a top manager.

From there, attracting good coaching, physios and scouts should be the focus. As well as that, recruiting world class talent on the board is a no brainer.

We absolutely need to stop the rot with our current “strategy”. The best thing Moshiri could do is pay the right cost for DOF and manager, and give them the chance to take us somewhere.

Through luck rather than design we’re in a position where this summer our wage bill should be healthy, we’d have a number of high value players (Rich, DCL) etc, and there’s a window to have two successful seasons by the time the stadium is complete.

Start again, communicate to the fans that the last 6 years haven’t been good enough, show that we’re putting the right set up in place to progress, and the club can finally succeed.

The funny thing is that we’re paying each manager a £10-15m each time, when we could just pay top whack for someone like Luis Campos and give him full control to find a modern coach to play dominant football. He has the credentials - if he’d even consider us who knows?!

After Koeman, Carlo, Rafael, Big Sam playing negative football (Silva somewhere in the middle playing boring football too), I think most fans want a manager who can implement an aggressive, fast, dominant style of play.

Or.. we could hire Ferguson who’s been a key member in a complete failure of a set up for years now. Love the man, but he’s not going to take us anywhere.
I'm not to sure about a new dof, if he and a new manager don't get on very well it can cause problems, look at Benitez and Brands for example.

….what might also be an attraction for Moshiri is the clubs profile. Rooney coming in will be reported globally, we’ll be in demand for more TV, it will open up markets.
It is a bit of that Hollywood fairytale stuff. Boyhood blue left to win everything, returned and then "pushed out". Come back to save Everton from the drop.. the club he loves, the club that wronged him.

It's like a bad screenplay.

….I was pointing more to him being a global name.

Appointing Ferguson would be more romantic than pragmatic. Rooney is displaying his managerial capability, he will earn instant respect, he isn’t associated with Benitez.

Based on the statement they planning on getting a manager ASAP.. no Ferguson will take charge for the time being

Thats not the grounds for hiring one. Thats the grounds of hiring one before the manager and giving them license and creative control to hire the manager and lead on signings. There are a meniscal pool of examples of modern football clubs working without a more sturdy DoF. Especially for clubs who prior gave full creative license to various managers for almost a decade and leave a squad thats a collection of at least 5 managers visions.

Everton needs a DoF making the football decisions before they need a new manager. If they don't rectify that they will continue to be dysfunctional IMO.

Yep if a manager is appointed before a DoF and then we go on to appoint one later. History will definitely repeat itself and no lessons learned
