Newcastle yesterday looked hungry and good value for beating Leeds. And that Leeds outift are better than our bunch of losers.

Moshiri et al need to be shifting heaven and earth to give us a boost for that game by sorting a new manager out.

‘When will the penny drop’ says someone who was still backing Benitez.

Which just absolutely proves my point that in a post all about how the identity of the manager has been almost irrelevant to the failings over the last 5 years or so you’ve responded with ‘says someone still backing Benitez’.

He’s gone, yet people’s obsession with him means that any criticism dished out to any other aspect of the club over what has been half a decade of under performance and failure is immediately met with some rebuttal involving Benitez.

Re the Tuchel shouts

We had a world class manager. In fact we had one of the greatest managers of all time in charge. Even then though, by the end of the season, a large number of fans on here were calling for a different type of manager rather than going through the required pain of a multi year turnaround job.

There is no silver bullet. The new manager has to come in, keep us up, and then start again on changing everything at the club, and btw there might be some pain whilst he does it, we can’t just call for his head the moment this happens though.

I almost want us to get the biggest hipster progressive young manager we can find so that when he has the same problems there’s literally not a corner of the managerial market we can go to whilst we avoid the real problems at the club (I mean we have tried this already with Silva but people seem to have forgotten this. If he hadn’t have been manager already he’d be 100% getting touted on here as the type of coach we should be going for)

Dutch disciplinarian (433) - failed
Progressive young continental manager (433) - failed
Traditional English manager (4141) - failed as fans couldn’t abide his football
World class Italian pragmatist (433/532) - average return but fans didn’t like the football
Regimented tactical experienced manager (4231) - failed
Numerous interim Everton ex players - failed

Fans ‘let’s get a coach that plays 433 progressive attacking football, the players just need some coaching and set piece work’

When will the penny finally drop for some of you lot?
I think you need to review the formations played quite a bit for an accurate assessment

And THAT is exactly what this club requires.

Because he and the rest of the coaches will undermine another manager.

The galloot has got his chance by undermining successive managers when he really should have been held responsible with them and punted years ago.
POintless keeping him around. A clear common denominator im afraid to say.

Yes it's the structure and the recruitment at the root of our issues, I doubt any manager can be a silver bullet. However a good manager could still be getting more than 16th and one win in fourteen out of the squad surely?

The press conference on Friday was hilarious - a questioner pointed out he'd worked under 6 different managers at Everton - his eyes narrowed as he anticipated the logical conclusion to that question...which unfortunately never came.

He KNOWS he is guilty by association x6.

He's just hard faced and hoping desperately a job like this falls into his lap.

He shouldn't even be here.

This is the crazy nature of the forum. I used to get banned for arguing with Dave and FB. I’ll be agreeing with you in a minute *shudders*
Will always be difference of opinions, leads to an active forum which is always good. And I'm sure there's plenty that we, fb92, (maybe not dave) do all agree on, and plenty things we differ on. Just need to be respectable in how we disagree.

Very true that

Nobodys bringing up other overperforming Championship managers but keep going on about Rooney

Madness

Even forgetting his lack of experience at the top end of management you also have to acknowledge that we're a family club and fans are pushing for a bloke who regularly messes about behind his Mrs' back and has been filmed being farted on by local brass.

We can't be having that carry on at a club like ours.

Fans moan about Kenwright and jobs for the boys yet anyone related to the club in anyway is automatically listed as a good option.

If Rooney had no connection to EFC no one would want the bugger.
I agree with the point your making, but the last good appointment we made was from Preston, a lower league side like Derby.
For me I still think that model is what we need to do again, no star hollywood names, and not the next big thing in the Premier League.
