If its really Lampard then that's the best possible appointment we could've made. It would've been better if he'd got the job last summer but there you go. Staying up this season is the only target we should set, anything beyond that is a bonus.

Keep us up this season and consolidate next season. Hopefully comfortably mid table next season.

First things first though, he has an awful lot of work to do to lift the players confidence and come up with an effective system that they are capable of playing. We are still in a very precarious position.

I’m hoping his accomplishments and stature in the game will get the players onside, initially at least

Kev, I've been banging his drum since the summer after Ancelotti resigned. He wasn't on the list of potential candidates to replace him and never mentioned in the new manager thread apart from my 2/3 posts that didn't get a single like or response. I think he is the best candidate out there, not just the best of a bad bunch. I'm absolutely 'kin chuffed if these latest rumours turn out to be true. But who knows. We've been here before.
