I think Lampard did well at Chelsea when they had their transfer ban. He used the young players well and helped develop some of their now top players. It was when their transfer ban lifted and they start to spend big that it went wrong for him.

With Everton, he wont get the chance to buy a hat full or 60-70M players, he will have to work with what hes got and use the young players. It's for this reason I'd say he's ideal for us. I'm looking forward to seeing some of our young players getting the opportunity to develop under Lampard.
There was always the suspicion at Chelsea that the big signings were made in consultation with Tuchel while Lampard was still manager because they knew Tuchel was going to come in. Lampard was used as a stopgap.

Lampard was a top player but unproven as a manager, did ok at Derby despite spending big money but ultimately failed and then took over at CFC, the toughest managerial gig in the league, and was sacked.

If EFC were an entity looking for a manager with a record of achieving consistent result with few resources
then Lampard would not be your man. He's better in my book than a Benitez mark -2 type but he has been overpromoted. Why was Sean Dyche not in the frame? Too late now and we have to support an apprentice who will be learning on the job. Will he fall for tossers like Deli Ali? Probably, but lets hope he does enough to avoid relegation.
Dyche? Really?

I've been saying this for years. In an age where retaining possession is extremely valued we constantly just hand it away every kickoff. It's just so bizarre.
It’s a tradition though, like kicking towards the Gwladys St in the second half. Take the kick off and Michael Keane boots it into touch at the opposition 18yard line. Crap tactic.

Of all the possibilities, you would have to think that Lampard would know how to build a good midfield. This is what we have been missing for years and I’m looking forward to him arriving……
So am I, now. OK, he got sacked at Chelsea, but most managers get sacked at some point, even good managers.

Lampard did well at Derby and started well at Chelsea iirc, and it's not a club that's patient when results fall away.
