Why bring back a crap manager whose one saving grace was that he's never been relegated, but he was relegated last season?

A damn good question. But feels safer with Big Sam than Lampard, Rooney and Cannavaro, as long as the only goal is to avoid relegation. There is also a short-term contract, so it is possible to pick up Sampaoli after the end of the season.

I'm not sure I understand it myself. I suppose I don't really rate either, but one has the "mythical" DNA that might ensure a feelgood factor and buy more time, because either of these guys will need time and support to make any fist of this.
