Why is America so ace?

I like the fact that a lot of the Americans I met really were as fookin stupid as comedians make them out to be.

Things is like..... The weather is better in America
Minnesota says hello ... but yes if you want super hot you can find that, temperate you can find that, seasons and extreme cold too ... enough variety to satisfy most people.

Things I Hate They work much longer
Yeah this is a problem. And of course ...

Private Health Care
Utter bollocks. That said the people are getting more and more liberal (granted the tea party types are getting more and more conservative). Really the politicians (same as in most places but accentuated in the US) are reprehensible scum-bags of the highest order but the people are mostly sound (and getting sounder).

Other than BBQ's the food is awful
No it isn't. It's just like the UK -- lots of people like to neg the food (because some of the traditional stuff is horrible filth) but in a city like NYC (or London) you can find some of the best food in the world. If you go to Arby's ... sure it's horrible ... but dig around and there are great places.

They dont have cool words to in**** people
You should spend some time in New Jersey ... they get by okay.

They write really poor sitcoms
... that is just flat out wrong beyond belief. Yeah there is some crap (just as there is everywhere -- not like every sitcom in the UK is Office or Blackadder) but there are more top shows out of the US than any other country. You might need to expand your horizons in this area. (Seinfeld, Cheers, Simpsons, AD, P&R ... hell forgot the classics even shows most people haven't heard of and hardly anyone watches like Venture Bros. or Almost Sunny just utterly destroy almost any other sitcom from any other country.)

Beer is a joke
Who cares what the *local* beer is like? You can get Canadian and Euro stuff almost anywhere. You don't *have* to drink Budweiser ... lots of Americans hate it too. That said ... I'm not too bothered at all ...

There's so much to do. I've spent some time there and I like the geographical diversity and how big the place is.

I like the people. I know how some don't get them but I reckon it helps staying there. An American friend of mine once said "we make far better hosts than we do guests" and I hadn't been there then but when I did I always remember her for saying that as it's spot on. If you go as a tourist or visitor there the interaction with the people makes it. Compared to us they're so much more positive and I unashamedly like it.

The food is ace, the beer is piss, the cars are super. It has for me the greatest city in the entire world in New York City. And people are friendly. I love where I'm from and I'm from an amazing city, but I'd happily settle in the States. That's about the biggest compliment I can give it.

Obviously each to their own.
the beer is piss? mate, no offense but that's just a load of ****. if you are talking about the Budweiser and cCoors, sure, that's piss. but the US as a country has probably the best beer in the world outside Belgium.

Fair enough mate but nah. I've been around the country enough and if you walk into a normal bar there is piss beer.

Obviously I'm excluding the rare bars with micro breweries. But ordinary run of the mill bars serve piss beer.

Canadians do better beer than the US too. And they can hold it better.

I love USA me and would happily give up my life as it is now to move there and work - I know though in the field of work I am in it would be incredibly difficult to get a visa.

New York City, as mentioned already, is superb and I too count it as the best city in the world (of those I have visited). A fantastic place with so much cultural diversity. That cultural diversity means there is so much to see and do, brilliant food, a buzzing atmosphere and I genuinely don't think I could ever get bored there. Obviously you'd have to give up the dream of a five bedroom house with garden if you're living in NYC, but I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Aside from NYC I've been to Orlando (ace), Niagara (****hole), Santa Monica (****hole), Hollywood (****hole) and a few other places.

I done Niagara on the Canadian side and was disappointed with how tacky they've turned it into.

Well said on NYC, agree with it all. Simply one boss place. Happily live there.

Yeah we went from Toronto to Niagara and walked over the bridge to passport control. Didn't spent time on the Canadian side but thought also it looked tacky. The American side is a complete tip, like. What a dreary city.

I can appreciate it's a cool thing to do, but I'd never encourage anybody to go out of their way to visit the Niagara Falls.

Doesn't help like that on the day we were there it was overcast as hell, off-season with all the attractions closed and rainy.

What did you think of Toronto? Love that city, it's like a jarg NYC but in a boss way.

You could argue-counter argue all day... but from my experience.. i stand by what i wrote.

Looked into living and working in the US. If you're from a sound country they won't even enter you into the lottery, yet if you're from Chad or Turkmenistan or wherever you're allowed to enter. Dafuq?
