The long aimless balls were frustrating, but only after about 30 mins Gomes started coming deep to get the ball off the defense, with Allan nowhere to be seen.

It doesn’t seem like we have any plan of moving the ball up the pitch and would love a deep lying midfielder to protect a back four and be our play maker.

Of course mate, players have to take responsibility but the reason why players need a manager is because they need to be managed. They need to be told to pick up player A on free kicks but player B on corners. They're told to attack front post from player A corners and target oppostions striker from other side. Players take on bitesize pieces of information and it's these tactics they take onto the pitch.

Watching Everton is complete chaos. Their is no cohesion, gaping holes everywhere, no plan, barely any tactics, hardly anything that looks like its been worked on the training ground..

Exactly right. Its also disturbing that a cluster of players continually make half hearted jumps at crosses and never get to attack the ball. 9/10, the opposition sail above to succeed. Its embarrassing when even half assed pundits on television are now continually banging on about this.

Surely to God they review and analyse games at Finch Farm... theres enough staff there with fancy titles who are supposed to. Clearly, one presumes that they do... so the insanity of this being allowed to continue and it not being eradicated and fixed is the most disturbing feature of it.

The simplest solution right now would be if Yerry Mina would graciously consider turning up to work. When he plays, the whole defence looks more confident and plays with more composure.

The longer-term solution is to sell JJK, Keane and Mina, allow Coleman to retire and send Holgate out on a make-or-break loan. Patterson and Mykolenko deserve a grace period before we pass judgement, and both Godfrey and Branthwaite look like they'll be fine IF they play alongside an more experienced CB every week. That should be Mina but he can't stay fit. It can't be Keane because he's proved repeatedly he can't do it.

He's simply not doing his job Eggs. He's not coaching them, he's not drilling a manageable system into the players.

Lack of pace is a major concern, there's no recovery from even a slight error. We have a big defence and I have no idea how we are ao poor at defending set plays..

I think it is a combination of things, it’s not just one issue.
Some of it is down to fine margins and individual errors.
Some of it is down to the formation and tactics. The players seem to do this “half press” where some press and some drop back, which doesn’t work, either all go or all drop back into your shape. Playing 523, we got overrun in midfield, because most teams play 3 in the middle.
I think we look much better playing 3 in the middle and 4 at the back. Hopefully the new players we have signed and those returning from injury, we will play 433 more often. Personally I think we need additional players in the central midfield area and at CB. But I understand we have a big squad, there are just too many players who don’t play.
