Its getting to the point now where I'm starting to become frustrated and concerned with the immediate future of this club and I'm sure many others are on the same page. Normally I'm not a big whinger and normally I'm not one to complain (check my post history), but I don't understand why we can't attract and sign players, where as Villa and Spurs can. We have finished just outside the top
Four consistently and featured in the FA Cup final last season and yet Championship players are turning us down.

Now I understand that we don't have a lot of money and we can't match wages of most other clubs, but surely our club
would be an attractive move for most
players around the globe. But this off season is looking de ja vu of the previous and I want to know why?

Is it because of the way our club Is marketed? I live in aussie and I for one can tell u Everton is never ever mentioned in any sports reports, unless our man Timmy delievers something special.

Anyone got an opinion?

Its all about money, me thinks.

Notice how every concrete transfer rumour (Noughton say), theres a little bit that says 'matches our valuation'. If a player doesnt match our 'valuation' we dont sign them.

The other managers bend and we dont. I admire that, we cut out the chaff; but we may miss out on a real bargain.

You have to take your hat off to the spin machine though. Stumbling through another fruitless transfer window with two bob in their pockets, they're pulling out all the diversionary stops:

Oh, look over there, a takeover story...

Oh, look over there, news about Kirkby....

It is frustrating. I realise that Villa, Spurs, City have all outspent us in the last few seasons and we have still finished above them, but how much longer can we hold them off? They'll keep spending the money and eventually they'll get it right. We can't perform miricles every season.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave.

I feel sorry for them. They must be looking at the calender and wondering what they can pull off next to get past the last four days of this month and all of next month. I might email Ian Ross with some suggestions:

  • a rainbow coloured third kit
  • Bill Kenwright health scare story (what with the Kirkby excitement)
  • invite Paul McCartney onto the board as musical advisor
  • unveiling of next Turkish-German sensation as he graduates from Kindergarten
  • in depth coverage of August's world tour of Blackpool
That'll keep the pot boiling until at least mid-August.

Agreed about the money situation McBain, just find it weird that Championship players snub us for a team that could of been relegated last season.

I agree with the previous poster about just how long we can hold off the likes of Villa, Citeh and Co. When we signed Fellaini last season I thought it was a last minute panic signing. Don't get me wrong I don't regret it at all, as I think
he will pay for himself over time, I just hope Moyes doesn't panic in the last minute of the window and splash out on a random nobody even know he has been successful in the past. Just have to sit and wait I guess..

Its the reason Adebayor would go from Champions League top 4 team to Citeh. Ego's are out of control. The more cash you get a week is the biggest decider for these money grabbers.

I reckon the Fellaini signing was 'The Mout, Fernandes and Defour we cant get, and rather than get no-one, we'll get Fellaini.

Could be a SOS to Stubbsy very soon me thinks. And ill take another Fellaini as long as this one knows the meaning of bookings.

I long to see the "BREAKING NEWS" yellowness.

And leave it Dave lerd. Everyone is on edge today, dont be tipping people over it.

Someone's going postal today. Kipper wil be in meltdown shortly when the lids have woken up. I wouldn't answer a knock on the door at Goodison Road.

Basically we are buggered.

We no longer live in an age where showing off our trophy list and a quick whirl around Finch Farm detailing the superior facilities on offer is enough.

Even if a player is personally interested in playing for us over another club, his agent will be on his back persuading him the bigger financial deal is in his best interests, because the agent stands to make more dosh out of it for himself.

These are very young, impressionable men at the end of the day, and they'll always be attracted to the glitzier offer or what those they have entrusted to make their 'sensible' decisions for them, tell them to do.

Bottom line is, until we are prepared to stump up the cash, nothing else we do to attract players really matters.

Dont go there, but how long would it take before I got banned?

Might be up for that challenge.
