Transfer Rumour Wilifred Gnonto

A lot might want to see Everton do the same but honestly I think Leeds are handling this dreadfully basically across the board.

They’ve dropped down a division and they’ve got a lad who’s a full international, probably not on great money and is too good for the championship who clearly is desperate to leave. Any reasonable club would let him go, assuming a reasonable offer came in. Putting out statements and all that only invite your own fans to pile on the player and send all the abuse directly to him.

We did something similar to Stones at the time when Chelsea were in for him but we were a European challenging side and he was helping us push on. When Lukaku wanted to go we knew that the offer was good and we simply couldn’t offer him what United could financially and on the pitch.

It’s one of those cases where I do actually feel for the lad and hope he gets a move, hopefully to us but if not at least somewhere else, as he’ll have seen loads of others, like Sarr or Joao Pedro at Watford, go down to the championship with a lot of hype as players and just languish for a few years before eventually getting an alright move. They lost out on millions of pounds and opportunities to play at a higher level for years but were lucky to get , other players can miss the train completely and get sort of stuck at that level.
Is one of them just because saying he is not for sale to the media, with a new board they want to look strong. The lad signed at 5 yr deal a year ago have every right to not sell. As the bobble has said today that they want 30 mill, is up to us to get close to the number they want and get it done

I can see your point, but Sarr, Joao Pedro and many other players in the Championship are on wages that most people can only dream of.

I don't think he's worth 30mil
Would prefer that money spent on a presence up top
I agree he ain’t worth 30 mil. But I think he will be a goalscorer in this league and will be able to play just off the striker (or play the Gray role up top in niche occasions). I do not see us signing a striker that improves us in any way, so I’d rather Willy to be honest. Our recruiting is gash so might as well take who we can get that makes us better

He’s worth about £100m and avoiding our long terms collapse as a club if he keeps us in the PL.

He is a type of player we need. Just like Harrison was a good signing that brings a skillset we need, Gnoto is the same. Can’t say any striker we sign will bring the same.

Controversial opinion perhaps but.....with Harrison signed, I'd be inclined to offer Leeds a take it or leave it and be prepared to walk away. The need for a striker far outweighs another winger. I'd actually be pretty pleased with Che Adams tbh lads, and a centre half, with experience. Gnonto is not as essential as perhaps he was.

He has a contract. Hope we get him but Leeds have every right to play hardball.
