Transfer Rumour Wilifred Gnonto

Probably among the most overrated players in the league last season.

Brilliant in moments, looks amazing on highlight videos on youtube or on MOTD, but does not really offer much over 90 minutes.

Kind of telling how Sam Allardyce (the podcaster) talked him up a lot last season while Sam Allardyce (the Leeds manager) started him in only two of the four matches he was in charge and subbed him before 60 minutes both matches.

Probably half a dozen Leeds players that did better than him last season. He did not do much for Italy U21 this summer in a championship Anthony Gordon was player of the tournament playing as a 9.

If he was 25 I would not have him near Everton. But he is 19 with bags of potential. And probably no worse than Gray.

Not sure where he will play though. As wide midfielders Iwobi and McNeil have been tasked with defending as full backs 60 minutes every game. Can Gnonto do that? And does he have the legs needed?

For now he probably is best suited to compete with Danjuma and Doucoure for minutes centrally just behind a striker. And I can't see him being a first choice there. Not yet.

That said, getting 8-10 league starts and minutes from the bench is pretty good for a 19 years old. No one should expect him to be a regular his first season.

The part ive bolded is where hes actually played the most.

Yes the same Sam Allardyce who got 1 point from 12 and conceded 9 in his last 3 games while trying to park the bus

I am not totally sure if the lad would be a good signing for us, but the fact Allardyce didn't play him that much means very little. Sam did a really bad job there and they went down without any fight.
Point is that Allardyce mostly watching Leeds highlights rave about Gnonto. Allardyce watching him in training and throughout matches not so much.

There is a reason why Leeds without competition could sign Gnonto from the Swiss league for 4 million less than a year ago. There is a reason why thee hardly has been reported interest for him this summer.

Mancini is a much better manager than Allardyce and he plays him. Farke played him and he’s won more than Allardyce as a manager too.

Allardyce didn’t play him because he wanted to be super defensive because Leeds have a shocking defence (which was exploited again in the Champ).

So... I'm definitely not vouching for this info, just passing along.

As some of you know, I work in the Liver Building. My boss is 100% convinced he saw Gnonto getting out of a big dark blue merc outside the building this morning, as he was arriving for work. My first thought was why would he be here rather than FF, but I suppose there could potentially be some logic as there'll be a lot of press around for the final training before the season starts...

I'm skeptical, but thought I'd pass it on.
Didnt realise Gnonto worked at the Liver Building. Surely that must work in our favour?

Mancini's Italy play 433. They are not very good.

It would have made more sense for Everton to sign Gnonto if they were a more offensive team, if they played with wingers and of they had a plan on how to play with the ball. When plan A, B and C are long balls out from the back and offensive players spending most of the time deep into their own half, Gnonto is a strange fit.

Allardyce is defensive minded. Dyche even more so.

Allardyce dropped 52m on Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun, hes not defensive minded, hes simple minded.

Mad take this like.

Because he was picked up at a very young age for a good price he's not any good?

Nobody is more defensive minded than Allardyce

Think would be best suited out wide more space to run and cut inside then. With the amount of time added now we need pace and with him and danjuma both offer us some.
