Transfer Rumour Wilifred Gnonto

I just find the whole thing odd.

Top Italian talent does not leave Inter's academy as a 16 year old to sign for a Swiss club.

He did fine for Zurich and Mancini called him up to the national team to have a look at him. He got four caps for Italy last summer. As an 18 year old. Every Italian club should be all over him. There are clubs in Germany, Belgium, Portugal and France that are experts on picking these kind of players to sell them on with massive profits after a year or two.

Why was Gnonto in Switzerland until deadline day? Why was he sold for 4 million? Why did he end up at Leeds? With all the scouting tools and videos available we should assume more than a hundred clubs checked him out before he signed for Leeds.

This summer we have seen lots of interest for Leeds players. Kristensen is loaned to Roma. Roca is loaned Real Betis. Wober, Koch and Aaronson are loaned to good Bundesliga clubs. I can't recall to have seen much interest for Gnonto.

My best guess is that Gnonto currently is on a contract he signed when he was a cheap 18 year old and refuse to be loaned out because he hopes he can 4x or 5x his salary if he is sold. And that no clubs outside Premier League are willing to pay what Leeds are willing to sell for. Even there Everton seems to be the only club showing real interest.
Nope. Orta has shafted Leeds and their fans are livid. He has inserted loan options into the contracts of most of the players you have mentioned, meaning they can leave on loan in the event of Leeds' relegation. That has resulted in them getting virtually no income from about 7 players currently out on loan.

Jack Harrison and Tyler Adams have relegation release clauses, meaning clubs can buy them both relatively cheaply. Gnonto has no clause, so Leeds are playing hardball with him because he is the one player they can do that with.

For the first point about Switzerland, lots of clubs procrastinate over players from lesser leagues, Leeds just took the punt. He left Inter because he wanted to play regularly supposedly. He'd be leaving Leeds because he wants to remain in the PL and probably knows he would play virtually all the time in our side.

Nah Dyche loves wingers even more than he loves Kasabian
Sure.

His back four defend more narrow than any other team. Most of the defending that is traditionally done by full backs are left to his wide midfielders. Which is why he played Godfrey and Coleman over Mykolenko and Patterson. He wanted his full backs inside the box as extra CDs. Out of possession Everton often played with a back 5/6.

Yes, the wide midfielders will attack freely in transition. That is why Iwobi and McNeil, the clubs fittest and best runners in the club, played there. That is why Garner could play there. And why Gray is not an option to play there for Dyche.

When it comes to postioning, Dyche's wide midfielders are similar to the wing back position in other teams. It has very little in common with traditional wingers.

Remember Lennon at the end of his Everton career? Hard working, quick and could run for days. But finished as an offensive player and offered next to nothingon the final third. Dyche signed Lennon twice after he left Everton. Lennon played more matches for Burnley than for Everton.

While we are where we are, with the financial means we have, there will be no perfect signing.

Agreed.

But is also makes it more important than ever to get the right players in.

In a normal world, going for these young players with a high ceiling is perfect. Too long since we had "failed transfers" such as Vlasic, Lookman and Onyekuru that was sold on with profit.

At the same time, Everton have a manager that over a decade has shown that he does not really develop or improve individual players. He is stubborn when it comes to tactics, hardly rotate the starting eleven and he is not fond of making subs.

Not sure the timing is right to spend the money available on 19 year olds.

Oh, the negativity; come on Mr Eggs...some sunshine in your life...

You know as well as I do that Thelwell and Kenwright will be in the boardroom as we speak having a brandy and cigar, congratulating themselves that they've got 1 transfer over the line.

No chance will they even be trying to get sort another out today, they'll be exhausted!!!
