Transfer Rumour Wilifred Zaha - January Transfer Thread

Seamus Coleman seems to have regained some of his best form, seems to be totally trusted and well regarded by CA who also appears to rate JJ Kenny as satisfactory back up at right back... I just don't think we will be trying to sign another right back. Holgate can play there as well and young Kyle John seems to be a player for the future as he looked well in pre season.

We are short on the right hand side of midfield.
Walcott seems to be slipping out of contention and his performance against Salford did nothing to change that.
Richarlison can play there but he seems to be firmly on the left or up front now and Iwobi just doesn't look convincing from an attacking point of view. When he came on as sub on Saturday I thought he played all over the pitch rather than as a right winger and we have seen previously Bernard just does not have the size, strength or pace to play effectively wide on the right.

Anthony Gordon may be an option but he seems to favour the left side as well.

We need a right sided player. Zaha is an obvious name , he can certainly play left and right sides, is an excellent player and would improve our attack enormously.

That, however, would also apply to several other players as well .

We have tried to sign Zaha before and that certainly is a factor and Crystal Palace did want to sign Tosun before and maybe that could also still be a factor or maybe not.
When we tried to sign Zaha last year there was a mention of players being exchanges which was strenously denied by Everton, but then both players mentioned did end up going to Palace afterwards... so who knows.

My preference would be Lozano after watching him for Napoli against City in the CL but that ship may have sailed.
We have signed three midfielders aged 28,29 and 29 and now I would like to bring players that are younger and have a longer future at the club. But , if we are going to sign a wide player I think Zaha has to be in the discussion.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Monday, Hodgson expressed his hope that Zaha will stay at Selhurst Park but accepts he could go if the right offer comes in.

Hodgson told the Jim White show: “He is under contract, he is not on the transfer list and we don’t want to sell him.

“But of course I would be naive to say a situation where the club doesn’t want to sell doesn’t mean you don’t get offers which are going to cause you some problems.

“At the moment, that hasn’t happened so I will continue to enjoy having him available.”

Asked what chance there is Zaha will still be at Palace after the transfer window closes, Hodgson replied: “I have no idea. I look forward to going into work with him every day.

“I’m a realist and I realise that if a club comes in and pays what the club thinks he is worth and he desperately wants to go, it will be hard for us to keep him. But until that day comes, there is no point in me speculating.

“I can even hope that because Wilf is a Palace man through and through that he will see a team that could be getting better and looking to go forward and maybe he will accept that staying here isn’t quite that bad.”

Palace have bid £19 million plus 6 in add ons for Brewster apparently.

You'd have to think that they are expecting a decent out. They are not known for spending huge amounts and have already bought a few.

Plus, how do the RS get so much for their unwanted players?? Madness!

No idea. Read over the weekend that they're about to see a young CB who I'd never heard of for £15m! All the sales of our youngsters in recent years haven't brought in that much.

They didnt spend any of the 50M they got for Wan Bissaka last year and they are getting 20M or so for Sorloth. They have plenty of money already

That right there is the problem. In what world is Zaha worth what Palace value him at? He's a good player and they want like 60m for him ffs.
