Will the season get halted amid the new COVID-19 spike?

Due to the new spikes in cases nationally with the new Covid-19 strain, will the season pause yet again?

Possible, think the supporters will stop again anyway.

Exactly. Makes no odds, same as a lockdown or circuit break or whatever they call it. Only thing will make things normal is a global vaccination programme.

One thing that is guaranteed is this season will not be cancelled while we are in the top 4.
Everything suggests it should be stopped (for a period at least) current cases of hospitalisation being greater than last time they halted the season....

Not sure what relevance the season has to do with a pandemic influencing a break in the football calendar has?
It was of course feared corona viruses could be worse in in the winter, but I’m fairly sure no one expected it to be worse than April when they were throwing up Nightingale hospitals up and down the country (most of which have since been closed / stripped out)

I think it'll calm down as you say once we get back to 1 game every 7 or so days - the 3 games in 7 days has meant it can spread about whilst in the incubation stage and not detectable on the tests done.

...and lay whole swathes of a squad low, to a point clubs have to make day-of-the-game appeals for postponements....

You're talking nearly 10 days as an incubation period so 2 weeks isn't going to do much. I think we'd be looking at 4 weeks in my opinion.

They will probably scrap the entire season when we are 5 points clear in late April
