Transfer Rumour William Carvalho

No he doesn't

we'll never agree on it.

I think in the holding role he's more than capable of doing what he does best (which is recovering the ball and passing it on) as long as he's behind two players who can have an impact from central midfield (Witsel and Barkley would be ideal, IMO).

Would rather have sherderlein if I'm honest. Same position, premier league experience, but better footballer imo. Saying that koeman obviously wants a real physical presence in midfield as protection for the back 4.

Half related to Carvalho:

Sporting Lisbon president Bruno De Carvalho has reiterated his stance on Joao Mario amid reports Inter Milan were close to signing the Portuguese midfielder.

The Nerazzurri were believed to be in the running to sign the 23-year-old having observed his impressive performances during Portugal's recent European Championship triumph, according to the Italian press.

"We do not sell our best players, we have a clearly defined project here. The fact may be that clubs are interested in Joao Mario, but that does not concern us.

"It just makes us proud because it means we are on track. I really hope that in a week's time, when we start preparing (for the new season), the coach will have all of his players available."

Although about Joao Mario (who is actual boss but that's not for now), the Sporting president sounds hopeful of not losing anyone anytime soon.

Defensive positioning is a liability, doesn't read the game aswell as a Barry.

He's a coward who hides during a game aswell

Oh yeah play him next to someone who'll do the running for him, jeez why didn't we think about that with Barry.

Agree with this. Look at how well he did in Unsworth's match where we played a midfield three, rather than a two-man screen with number 10.

In fact, he was pushed on as one of the CM's with Barry holding and his energy in pressing high up the pitch was excellent that day.

I'd actually like to see us try the 4-3-3 more this season, given that the players we currently have are seemingly more suited to that. Unless we end up signing all the CM's we've been linked with so far..!

Also the kolibalayayay link.

He clearly sees we are weak strength wise.
Obviously wants a real physical presence through the spine of the team. Koulibaly, carvalho, lukaku. Let's face it we are a soft touch at set pieces (conceding) and don't offer much threat at the other end. Even that great arsenal team had bould, Adams, petit and viera. Boy could they play so football, but they were never bullied out of games like they are now. Forester,
VVD, wanyama, pelle all physically strong through their spine, maybe that is what he wants at Everton.

Moshiri is supposedly friendly with Jorge Mendes, so I don't have any problem believing that this is possible - a £35m release clause would probably be do-able, given the figures being banded about lately. Just remain unconvinced he'd be any good.

With McCarthy it really is more of a case for me that he just needs to be given a set role - whether that's box to box or holding. He has attributes for both, but when he gets stuck between the two due to a lack of positioning or form, he goes missing.

If we had koulibaly behind him then he would get to any balls played in behind carvalho. Could be quite a pairing in the spine.

Page 10, reckon this one will get to about page 50 before we take it for granted/realise he aint coming, the days of 400+ pages for the likes of Mata and getting to 300+ for Witsel are long gone.
