Transfer Rumour William Carvalho

Koeman's comments about fitness were hardly insightful though. Anyone on here could have told you that our squads fitness was pathetic under Martinez.

While I'm sure Koeman and Walsh know what they're doing, football managers make mistakes all of the time and many of those mistakes can be predicted. We all wanted to believe that Martinez had some higher understanding of the game than the rest of us but it turns out that he really didn't.

IMO, it's better Koeman - like Ranieri was also - being honest before the match and saying we weren't up to scratch, than admitting so after the fact like Arsene did yesterday that his side we're not ready.

I said it last week, but any manager who said that their side were fully ready was lying though their teeth. Poch claimed that Spurs were 'flying', but half their team (Kane, Alli, Dier, even Lloris) looked knackered. It was only with a goal out of nothing and when we tired that they started to come strong.

Any reason this thread is still open? Not the player we need.

Actually, with the way Koeman seemingly wants to play I think we're in desperate need of a deep lying playmaker.

Barry can do it, and with Gueye doing his running it's fine, but there needs to be competition and Carvalho has a much better passing range - as good as Baz is.

Gibson? I'd rather we brought in someone who can play number 8/10. More box to box.

Would be a really hard midfield to try to pass through if we had him and Gueye next to each other like, still think it's very unlikely sadly - but yeah it's something we lack despite Barry bringing a lot of things to the team

Gibson? I'd rather we brought in someone who can play number 8/10. More box to box.

Gibson has no presence at all though mate - and he can't run or cover any ground - and tbh his passing hasn't been as it was either.

Somebody of the ilk of Carvalho would give us both options, but from what Koeman said in his post-match presser the other day I think he's definitely wanting Ross to take more responsibility (in fact, his exact words were 'I want Ross to sometimes become more involved further back as that makes the team better. nobody doubts his first touch or skill but when he works hard he is a much better player').

I hate jarg formations and the like normally, but a player like Carvalho would slot in instantly into any of the systems Koeman usually employs (4-2-3-1/4-3-3/4-1-4-1 or 3-4-3). I'm not saying we'll get him or are definitely in for him, but he's a player that would certainly improve us.

Problem with Gibson is he gets better and more rated the longer he's injured and not playing, he is an average at best cm who can hit a decent diagonal ball which no one else in the mid can so he gets lauded for this, defensively he's poor, he's slow and more often than not he's injured/smashing into cyclists/geting instagrammed at kebab shops etc etc etc

I am sure Gibson was kept on as he is on relatively low wages and rather than lose on a free we could sell him to a struggling side in January for a fee should a deal materialise that suits all parties.

I would love to add Carvalho to the side though. Him, Gana and Barkley could be very special with a pacey wide 2 supporting Rom.

The teams taking shape with every new signing so far mate, can see what koemans trying to do (i think), be interesting to see how the last few weeks of this window pan out now and see who else is brought in, IF Kone arrives we look more than sorted at the back for sure

Lets hope that the club executives have distinguished between chasing ghosts and players who want to join the club.
The last thing we all need now is another exhaustive news cycle that ends in paying over the odds for a DM player on the B list at the last min.

Come on Everton.......do the deed....... :)
