Transfer Rumour William Carvalho

He is exactly the type of player we should be aiming for a champions league standard player that for whatever reason other champions league teams aren't to sure of I.E scared of the risk because he won't be cheap.

It is a risk as are all transfers however it's not like we can simply pluck whatever player we want out of champions league teams.

Liverpool had great success buying players other champions league teams though we're too risky for the price namely Torres & Suarez.

He may not work out but he is a level above what we have or could pick up in the prem with perhaps the exception of schneiderlin.

I hope he arrives just to shatter the bizarre myth that still pervades that Gareth Barry is better than William Carvalho. 35 year old over the 24 year old, player who struggled to get international recognition over a European champion, a bottom half prem player over a champions league player.

Barry's agent must be a miracle worker. Consecutive seasons in the bottom half with him extra to the team. A team with an Spaulding defensive record in which he plays holding mid. A terrible disciplinary record resulting in numerous one and two match suspensions in both seasons and numerous pens/free kicks given away. Despite all this he's still considered a better bet to play holding mid in a team wanting to get top 4 than a European champion. Well done his agent mr Derren Brown, what an utter deception.

Barry is a class act. Better than Carvalho? Maybe not. But think youre being a Little over the top in your criticism of him really. Was our player of the season last year

Faster then everyone on this forum but yeah he is slow.

He is a defensive midfielder, he doesn't need to burst past people, which he can do, he just need to stop the attack and turn the ball over.

He is one of the best in Europe at it, see Euro Final, and he would be an amazing player to have.

He's still way off the standard required in order to compete at the top end of the Premier League. He wouldn't get a game for a single club in the top half, bar maybe Stoke.

Stress fracture of the Tibia, he missed about 2 1/2 months mate but happend late July so was injured all the way through the transfer window and into the end of September - kind of explains why he stayed put really

Ah well, I was close haha. Knew it was injury related though.

Honestly didn't have a clue mate, just looked it up :)

He's a quick healer like though to be playing after so short a time from that injury

He'slso a player having watched a fair few clips of him - actually starting to like him after slating him previously as being a snail, case there to not judge a player from casually watching a few games of Portugal with one eye on something else realy

too right he was our best player last season, he is priceless... the most experience domestically and internationally in the whole epl, can play any position across the back line or midfield... one of englands greats... a great football is great on and off the field... the impact barry will have at training and in the rooms you cant buy..

Defensive midfielder is needed. Barry I doubt will be able to carry his form from last season into this.

This is it ultimately. All very well being ok in a team that finishes 11th two years in a row. No team wanting to be in the top 4 would carry him though.
