He is far from terrible that's just nonsensical completely.

He has one major flaw that Is his speed and mobility. His technical prowess is there his positional ability is there too at a very high standard.

He would aboslutdly need to surround him with people with legs though which I'm sure he knows

You have to hope that our scouts are only scouting people with legs, otherwise this is a new low in the clubs history.

He'd be fantastic in a slower paced league but I have my doubts about him in the perm.

Although I trust koeman if he thinks he can make it work then why not.

Yeh it could be a bit like how he utilised Wanyama at S'ton, in a deep-lying anchor role with two players either side who provide the running.

If we played 4-1-4-1 like vs Norwich with Barkley and McCarthy/Another in front I think his pace would be irrelevant then due to his positioning.

I think that's a formation that Koeman will look to use a lot tbh, as it's pretty much a 4-3-3 at times, with the wingers pushed forward.

It would certainly allow Carvalho the time on the ball to sit deep and pick a pass, as well as shield the defence, and if you have some pace and energy around him it'd probably work.

He's a big lump of a lad as well yeah ?? Could use a little presence in midfield again

From what I can see hes not really the player his size suggests.

I notice somebody compared him to Felli earlier, thats who he reminds me, a "luxury" player, the type that shines when your ahead but you wonder just what his use is when the chips are down.

Personally, based on the very little ive seen, hes not the type I would be going for, but the lad is somehow very highly rated and youve gotta trust the scouting.

/shrugs

This 1 is happening, 100%, was told this a few weeks ago.

The lad is an utter snail, but he covers the ground and has an utterly superb range of passing.

Whats happened here? Ive been on about him for 2 years and each post youve slapped me down

lol

Hopefully. It's possibly my favourite formation for the transition. If anyone watched Sunderland from January onwards they played this formation with Kirchhoff holding (be an absolute dream signing) who isn't particularly pacy but he didn't need to be either.
