Transfer Rumour William Carvalho

Just being consistent

Watched him at the U21 championships last summer and made a point of paying close attention to him given all the hype that was surrounding him a year ago

Thought he was absolutely terrible

Reminded me of Fellaini in his first six months here

He was actually better in the Euros than he was a year ago but even so, I think he'd be a disaster and the crowd would hate his "relaxed" style of play in midfield - i.e. slow as a tax rebate and works about as hard as a Greek civil servant (apologies to those with Hellenic heritage).

Accident waiting to happen IMO

Again, I stand to be proven wrong I guess

Last time I stuck my neck out this far before a player was signed was Niasse. I'm on a streak like

Did you watch the same U21's as me? He got player of the tournament and absolutely smashed everyone. It was a bit unfair really with his age at the time he dominated everyone physically and strolled about. Fully deserved the award despite his penalty miss.

He is far from terrible that's just nonsensical completely.

He has one major flaw that Is his speed and mobility. His technical prowess is there his positional ability is there too at a very high standard.

He'd be fantastic in a slower paced league but I have my doubts about him in the perm.

Although I trust koeman if he thinks he can make it work then why not.

He would aboslutdly need to surround him with people with legs though which I'm sure he knows

I recognise I was in the minority on this

Watched one particular game with a mate of mine and we both sat there absolutely astounded by how bad he was

Next day the press all gave him MOTM

Either I know zero about football (entirely possible) or the media were buying into the hype around him and making the story fit

If he has a decent football brain then pace needn't be that big an issue? Barry is hardly Usain Bolt and he has been exceptional over the years. Unless he is literally slower than me?!!!

There's definite overhype around him regarding commentators but thought he had a wonderful tournament on the whole - same with the Euros just gone. I guess as well it depends how you view football. A lot of my friends that think he's crap funnily enough are strikers in real life.

Think Barry is more mobile than him TBH

He has very evident qualities - positional sense and passing range. His size would be an asset on set pieces etc and he wouldn't be bullied off the ball in the league

Just his absolute lack of pace, lack of inclination to track runners etc and general lazy demeanor that really have my "flop alert" senses raging more than 10 pints of Erdinger on a Friday night

I mean, his actual qualities are evident when you watch him, but he has very obvious, enormous flaws for a defensive midfielder that I think would be highlighted even more in England

I stand to be proven wrong, obviously, but I've spent the last 12 months arguing with my mates about how bad he is, so I'm not about to change my mind just because we might sign him (although it does make me want to be wrong).
