That's not tons of variety in that 20 years. Becker 4 times a losing finalist, Sampras never.
I'm not talking just Wimbledon. It's every single slam. That matches are often lasting 4 hours or more before the same people win as well. Who can be bothered?

I should add to this that since the authorities attempted to reduce the advantage of big serves, not only have all of the players essentially become the same, but there is much less variability between the courts. It's robotic and every match at every tournament is a slugfest played out from the back of the court.

Good point, its always been boring

Aye, plays right into the hands of juicers like nadal and djoko

If I was a ballboy/girl, I'd stick two fingers up when a player asks for another ball when they've already got two in their hands.
WTF, they're all doing it then batting one or two away when they've looked at the fur.

Seems to be a new thing

test match tennis? also, Jabeur is in the final again and is far from a robot. A bit more Henin than Davenport.

For the record, I'm primarily talking about the men's game. While the style of play among the women is pretty similar (by and large), the results are very unpredictable and far more so than among the men.

Was it easier to endure when Federer was operating like in a John Wick ballet? As there are four slams I'd like to see four different surfaces, but what that fourth one is I dunno, velcro or something...

Federer was undoubtedly beautiful to watch, but Nadal won his first grand slam 18 years ago now. Since Federer won his first slam, there have been 86 grand slam tournaments, and 3 players have won 65 of them. Over such a long period of time, that's quite insane. Even during Sampras' dominance, outside of Wimbledon things were really open.

Maybe it's all Federer's fault, that he was so able to play so creatively the less gifted competitors had to double down on the negative aspects of block as much as you can robot tennis. The flair of 1970 Brazil vs the strict crushing game of disciplined West Germany say. All things evolve, todays tennis is nigh unrecognisable to that of the wooden racket era. You've mentioned in the cycling thread that the lads flying over the alps currently are doing so in times vastly superior to the mega dopers of yesteryear. The dopes evolved. I'm still annoyed with Bolt for not running nine five like he seemed on the cusp of in Beijing. I digress. Some people loved Schumacher, some Hamilton, Hendry, O'Sullivan, dominance in sport is natural I suppose, but glory is fleeting and each new era brings it's own style of champions in whichever discipline. For tennis it's looking like Alcaraz for a while.

My friend keeps going on about Wimbledon and how much he loves it, but I’ve told him not to get too involved because love means nothing in tennis.

Good luck today to Granollers and Zeballos in the mens doubles final.

We'll never hear the end of it if that Kopite spanner Skupski wins it.

Jabeur wins the point more often when its a longer point. Vondrousova has to keep it short and sweet. Could be a bloodbath here.
