Sorry Woolly. Good to have you back ( what a suckhole)
In olden ( rep ) days I'd have just negged you.
I'm not keen on infracting people for minor swear filter avoidance ( just a personal thing, @roydo would do you for it ). You have a swearing infraction hanging over you so the last thing I want to do is push someone over the limit and get a two day ban over such a daft thing.
More generally, on rep, and neg rep in particular :-
- Neg rep highlighted issues which probably wouldn't get reported and so allowed moderators to take a quick look at the rep logs to see if someone was being a complete nob
- If neg was being misused, we had the ability to stop people using it, which resulted in great amusement when people like @orly were left wandering round the forum like a castrated dog while all the other dogs were still firing on all cylinders
- I've used neg and pos rep to chastise and then praise someone for changing the way they've interacted with the forum. Anyone with kids will understand that praise alone is ineffective. Life isn't full of positives ( or likes l. Anyone who thinks it is has lost the plot which leads neatly on to...
- Most, but not all, of the people who complained about being negged were either over-sensitive, WUMs or attention seekers ( or possibly a combination of these ).
