Anyone followed any of the tennis so far?

I was fortunate to catch a really good game live (on tv) today around 2pm - 3pm, Jankovic vs Safarova, the tennis these two served up was exquisite. 27 shot rally being the highlight, they absolutley hammered each other for just shy of 2 1/2 hours.

brilliant.

Aye I've been enjoying the championship as usual. Shame Timmy Henman lost yesterday :( He was playing some very good tennis.

It's never a shame when Tim Henman loses.

Man, Suits, you say Wombles, you remind me of the episode of Bottom where they go camping on Wimbledon Commons for loosing a bet. Ahh, the darts, hob-nobs and streakers!!!! Good times!

It annoys me all the abuse that Henman gets. He's the best player we've had for years, certainly the only one who's come anywhere near to a Grand Slam final. He puts his heart and soul into every match and he plays very attractive tennis. Unlike this bolocks served up (no pun intended :P ) by the likes of Andy Roddick. It's a shame that the majority of people don't seem to realise that Henman was, and still is, a very good player. I still thoroughly enjoy watching him play.

he's the human equivalent of beige, there simply isnt anything there, and all the fist pumping in the world (easy) will never convince me of his desire to win at all costs.

an average player in a league of amazing players who themselves are bested by not the best player in the world but the best player in the universe.

sampras is gone, long live federer.

Hear, hear. (Or is it here, here??)

I'm clearly not going to win this argument.

At least Federer plays tennis which is good to watch. I just cannot stand watching people like Roddick. Take away his serve and he is an awful player.

Brits love the underdog, and the belief that every dog has its day... tims been promising for over a decade, and sadly for him, he couldnt manage it (the ivanisavich year is the one)

the fact him and rusedski couldnt see eye to eye and guided the good ship britania out of the davis cup. [Poor language removed].

tim and canadian rused are a step up from the laughable jeremy bates, but tennis is like golf in britan, hugely elitist and if parents are pushy, there is better money and more places in football.

Correct me If I'm wrong but henman NEVER made it to a grand slam final right?

Rusedski however did make the US final, he did lose but he did make it to a grand slam final.

Oh yeah that is true. But aside from that one final, Rusedski has been pretty [Poor language removed].

Henman made it to the semis on six occasions. Sometimes he was beaten by the better player. But as Suits mentioned, for the Ivanisavich one he was beaten by rain.

beaten by rain, what nonsense, he was only beaten by a better player, simple as.

If Henman runs so hot and cold then its his own fault for being inconsistent, as it is with wimbledon everyone knows the rain can be a problem so you must be prepared for breaks etc.

You Henman supporters are blind to the truth that he is just a bit rubbish, he is one dimensional (serve, run to the net, volley) and could only ever play well on one surface (grass, wimbledon) and his record highlights that.

I'm so glad that sampras was around and then federer and whoever the nobody it was who beat him this year.
I was excited at the thought of murrary playing wimbledon this year, that lad can play on all surfaces, mix it with the best varying his style, a star in the making.

It won't be long until Federer figures out clay, ends Nadal's unbeaten clay run and takes all the grand slams in a single year!

You reckon?

Maybe Nadal will figure out grass? ;)

What little I have seen of federer over the years gives me the impression that he is all about timing and precision and not putting too much into the shots and with clay thats not really possible, I think clay will always be his nemesis.

The federer - nadal thing is great for the sport though.

I disagree, when they first met on clay Nadal ruled supreme, and slowly as time has gone on, Federer is getting more and more effective. Soon he will master it and take it all!
