Women's team to play games at Goodison.

Would be a nice idea but just finding the money for it...

Removing the Park End, would still leave a considerable space for regeneration in the area.

Removing the Top Balcony, and putting on a new roof, would keep all the Main Stand facilities in place, still allowing regular Goodison tours to happen, as well as the lounges to still operate as function rooms.

A new roof on Gwladys & the bullens would remove alot of the obstructed views their, but it would just be cheaper removing the worst seats. A smaller capacity in those Upper tiers would make the facilities more bearable.

The stadium coukd history other events/gigs, too small for BMD/Anfield, but too big for the echo arena etc, another potential revenue stream for the club.

Nice to dream, but if it is happening, I think it will be with minimal redevelopment of the ground, and just closing off sections of it, like they used to do for the U23 games

The Womens team are facing rent increases at a very limited facility in WHP..... can Goodison Park once again come to the rescue? It would also cost millions to build a new stadium for the ladies.... some of the Goodison site could still be sold/converted for a major community or residential development to offset costs. The Old Leitch stands could be preserved as a historic working football heritage site, which might attract further funding. There are only 4 Leitch double-deckers still standing..... Goodison has 2 of them, from different decades.... and uniquely they are joined. Representing comfortably the largest example of early classic football stadium design in the country (the world?). These could be recertificated for say half capacity usage (or less). The enclosure and its boxes could be reused and the Mainstand largely demolished or shell remodelled as a large joint residential/community block. The Park end could be maintained as it is. Leaving a capacity of 15-25k. The site could be the new home for the county FA too, hosting local/regional amateur/school finals. The stadium could still host joint tours with the new stadium, and as these old school stadia become rarer, even more visitors to the city might want to visit.... I also think the women's and youth teams would get significantly larger turnouts than they currently get. If demand dictates, it could also be used to relay some major home games live on the big screens helping to boost the local economy on more event days. It has been stated repeatedly that the club wants to maintain a presence in its ancestral homeland. What better way to do that? What better "legacy".....?

I personally don't see this Tom. As much as I would like the Leitch stands to be preserved, I don't see them being kept as working stands. If it were possible I would convert the Bullens like they have done at Highbury but have it split between maybe a hotel and a visitor attraction. Having said that it would be such an undertaking I wonder if it would be viable. Maybe just save a section of the stand. I don't know.

For me the idea of a new stadium (like Marine's) is win win as not only does it provide a home for the Women's team but also ensures the location the historic location of Goodison Park, has a football presence. Has an Everton football presence.

I think keeping anything of the current Goodison as working stands is just a pipe dream. The stands need to be demolished. There's a reason why we're moving from Goodison.

A hotel and visitor attraction is absolutely useless unless the entire area has a massive regeneration. All this talk of doing what Arsenal did etc is ignoring the really important fact that Highbury was a prime location, and Goodison absolutely isn't. With the best will in the world, nobody is paying premium prices to stay in a hotel in Walton.

Noone is saying oremium housing like Arsenal, but Goodison is the oldest purpose built football stadium in the world, in a historic football city, hosted games at the 1966 world cup, hosted great players like Pele and Eusebio, and have an Everton or even general football museum there makes sense to me.

Most places that have hotels have them because of vicinity to attractions. But that in itself brings visitors and money.

And lets face it, its an area that has long needed funding.

If only there was a bunch of suckers out there that would pay top rates to stay in the area...........

Again, with the best will in the world, an Everton museum just isn’t going to bring in any visitors at all - it would just be our own fans going. There’s already a national football museum 30 miles away, nobody’s trekking to a Liverpool suburb to go to another one.

Loads of people are saying build stuff like Arsenal did actually, so that’s a bit of a weird point.

Look at the plans we had before though (flattening the whole stadium and building; social housing, Doctors, etc), how much will that cost? how much do we pay to play games at WHP for the womens team? How much do we pay out for the reserves to play at southport?

It could be done as a phased development over several seasons, or with the womens team currently playing at WHP, the club could do it all in one hit, it could be really beautiful though.

Those plans where scaled back every time we got an update though, last we heard the club where basically willing to give the land away to any developers with viable development plans

When was that? TFG really want to expand the women's game as they see how huge it is in America and like a number of the USA owners they think that it has potential to grow, both within the UK and globally. Also any money spent on the womens team is exempt from PSR.

I think it was around the time the 3rd set of plans came out which was back in 2021 now, we've had nothing since then, so likely all changed.

I think ultimately the land Goodison is on is of relatively little value (especially when compared to Arsenal, West Ham etc), which is probably why plans of suburban redevelopment have been consistently scaled back.
The equation the Friedkins will need to make is does it make more financial sense to build more stands at WHP or scale back and redevelop Goodison. I suspect (and hope) the latter may be true.

I believe Goodison is pretty important in the development of Women's Football, so seems apt that it would stay for this purpose.

From Wikipedia:
On 27 December 1920, Goodison Park hosted a match between Dick, Kerr's Ladies & St Helens Ladies, which was attended by an estimated 53,000 people, at a time when the average gate at Goodison Park in 1919–20 was near 29,000. Dick, Kerr's Ladies won 4–0. More than £3,000 was raised for charity. Shortly after, the Football Association banned women's football on official pitches. The reasons given by the FA were not substantial and it is perceived by some that the women's teams were a threat to the men's game. The ban was lifted in 1970

The reality is it doesn't make economical sense to have a separate 7k stadium (mooted min capacity the WSL is proposing).
Converting stands and having to taking levels off carefully add cost and complexity.
Land value less demolition costs means there isn't much of a significant return to the club.
I don't envisage them wanting to take on lot of development risk themselves and can see them selling off pieces of it with hopefully some covenant LFC can never buy/use it.

I'd love EFC to retain some sort of presence and for a community football pitch/garden but sense money will outweigh sentiment.

I guess it partly depends on how suitable WHP is for expansion to 7k if that does become a mandate.
Goodison is/was set for demolition anyway so that's a cost that is already factored in, however they could demolish all stands bar park end and the paddock or family enclosure and comfortably meet that min 7k requirement.

Highbury's main stand had a fantastic arc deco facade and marble floor interior. Bullens is wooden floored and built with rotten bricks.

Get it bull dozed ffs.
