Higgins doesn't like Ronnie, always plays his best against him. It will take a big effort from Ronnie to win he will have been hoping Lisowski could do him a favour.Higgins has a good record v Ronnie lately.
But Ronnie looks totally focused this tournament
Both players will want to win a world semi .Higgins doesn't like Ronnie, always plays his best against him. It will take a big effort from Ronnie to win he will have been hoping Lisowski could do him a favour.
Ronnie and John are shadows of what they used to be. Hopefully Trump wins as the old boys just keep racking up weak era wins. Both players will want to win a world semi .
Ronnie has seemed completely tuned in for this. I think he will win
Weak era wins ?Ronnie and John are shadows of what they used to be. Hopefully Trump wins as the old boys just keep racking up weak era wins.
Game peaked when you had prime Ronnie, Higgins, Williams, Stevens and Hunter. Losing Hunter was the biggest blow as he would have been an absolute superstar.Weak era wins ?

Before the yips Hendry was also sensational - the most dangerous champion of all.
The likes of Stephen Lee were also very good.
The game has more breadth, but less quality. Class of 92 keep grinding out wins as the competition is not as tough.
Trump is the only one capable of reaching the heights but his form has been very poor. Snooker needs him to have a dominant era.
Chatting wham as normal.Weak era wins?
Competition not as tough ?
Less quality ?
The below chart is the amount of century breaks each year at the crucible going back the last 20 years.
I’d say the level of competition these days is even tougher, so not sure what you’re getting at tbh.

You cannot just say as there are more centuries the standard is better. More generous tables are a factor there.Weak era wins?

Just Trump really. Selby is up there and Robertson too. They would compete in any era. Also yan bingtao could be a superstar looks very good to me and should only get better.Game peaked when you had prime Ronnie, Higgins, Williams, Stevens and Hunter. That's an Anglo centric point of view. Look at players from countries who didn't feature at all in your 'golden age.' Iran, Belgium, Thailand, multitudinous Chinese, even Germans. The amount of tournaments (and prize money) has increased dramatically, the opportunities are there, it's whether you're good enough and willing to put in the hard yards. You cannot just say as there are more centuries the standard is better. More generous tables are a factor there.
If you watched the Big 3 back then you would have to agree that they have lost some of their quality.
The fact young players are not coming through to displace them exposed the wider malaise in the sport. Participation has dropped off a cliff and Hearn has not done enough to promote the game against grass roots level.
