World Snooker Championship

Robertson and Selby - who I was writing off last season - are both back Back BACK!

I feel sorry for John Higgins. He's had a fine week, but he just can't seem to get over the line in a final these days. I suppose getting to them is the achievement at his age, though. Hats off to him. A marvelous player.

If this week has reminded us of anything, though, it's that Mark Selby is the ultimate match player. Mark Allen tried to play him at his own game and came acropper. Higgins, who was previously the best match player ever, is probably just outmatched by evolution as much as anything. He's giving away eight years, and Selby took that to a new high in the last decade.

I'm pleased Selby appears to be approaching his best form again. Styles makes matches, and a top-form Selby versus Trump, Robertson, or O'Sullivan would be box office.

Judd Trump serving up a right stuffing here. And no mistake. No idea what the odds were...

And, as I type this, the kiss arrives, missed black off the spot. Ironic cheer as Slessor pots a red.

Knew Trump would win last night, but didn't expect him to get turned over quite so handily today. Wilson far far to good today. First to 9 was winning 7-1 from the first session.
All wrapped up well before 9pm. Wins it 9-3. And a shout out to his mas for recently beating breast cancer. Good stuff.

Starts on Friday with limited spectators ; the draw has just been made :
Hope you're still about, still giggle at that Vera Duckworth clip you found (in the supermarket, 'crank foods'), I knew both Higgins and Trump were nearly neck-a-neck in the high 900's both have now hit 1000 career centuries (Higgins silver medal) sadly I missed the Trump one live. Yeah, Robertson will be next.
