Worst Squad Since Early 2000s

SuperKev91

Player Valuation: £950k
Can’t think of any worse/less likeable squads we’ve had since the early 2000’s.

Even that mad period where we didn’t sign a player for money for about 2 years and had Magaye Gueye flying down the wing was better than this.

Who have we got who goes on to better things from this group? Branthwaite, DCL, Pickford?

Horrendous levels of apathy and like it or not our fate is in their hands here.

And no strategy.
It all seems piecemeal
Do we practise ideas?
From top to bottom thus club is rudderless clueless and a joke
We waste our limited resources on useless players
And what do we get?
The worst team I have seem in supporting Everron for 67 years
I totally despair

I can’t be the only one who thinks our first 14/15 should be comfortably (lower) mid-table? I think we’ve had far worse squads in recent seasons, let alone 20+ years ago.

It's hard to say. Sometimes we get the odd spell of form which suggests you're right but then there's these dire long runs without any hope and you're left to wonder if it's the manager or the players. It's probably both.

I’ve seen this claim a few times tonight.

JOB hasn’t really put a foot wrong, Tim has probably been our best player, and Ndiaye seems our best attacking hope (while admittedly patchy). I’d even say Lindstrom got in positions tonight that our other attackers couldn’t get into because they’re slugs, but I’ll concede that he badly fluffed them. Not seen enough of Mangala to comment, yet and Broja is still knackered.

We’ve got a lot of problems but as yet I wouldn’t say that resources being wasted on “useless players” is one of them.

It’s the old form vs class cliche, isn’t it? Dyche ultimately got us about where I think we should be last year (in terms of points won), but he got there via an abysmal run of form preceded and followed by a couple of decent runs of form.

This year, we look every inch a team that could go 4 months or whatever it was without a win again. The problem with starting that way, is it amps up the pressure of having no points in the bag to fall back on.

I accept we’re gonna lose more than we win, but I honestly believe that the players we have should see us in 13/14th place in the league and should have put that Southampton team to the sword tonight. I won’t be convinced that Dyche isn’t our biggest problem as far as on-field matters go.

Cant wait for next season.

Ndiaye is our best player by a mile.
He will be at a top six club within two years.

You are absolutely right that Southampton shouldn't have came to Goodison and dominated tonight. At any other club Dyche would be well sacked by now yet we limp on because of the mess that we're in. As bad as the players are, it's obvious to anyone that they are being badly managed.
