Would things drastically change if Benitez left tomorrow?

If Benitez left tomorrow and nothing else changed would Everton's fortunes improve?

Ancelotti double-downed on the lack of managerial professionalism that Koeman established - delegating task he should have been doing.
He also signed a true fraud in Rodriguez at great expense. Benitez will now truly understand the scale of the task. It needs time and for me, he is one of two who can take a squad such as ours and shape it to do well. Superstar managers are no good to us, we have no superstars. Benitez has been very successful and David Moyes has been very effective. For the PL I think they are the two that fit where we are and want to go.

That's nonsense that. The revisionism with Rodriguez is mad.

He had a decent season under a manager he likes to work with. His new manager doesn't like working with him (and vice versa) so he moved on. That's all there is to it, he was absolutely not a great expense nor was he a "fraud".

Neither of those managers fit where we want to go at all. They could be useful in taking us a couple of steps along the way. Depends where you want to go really though doesn't it? I do agree we don't need a superstar manager though.

We won't improve as a club if Benitez leaves tomorrow. The scale of the task is too huge for any new managers. Can't spend, poor youth system (at the moment) and a bunch of overpaid players who doesn't care or have the courage enough to give their best every game.

You can say it's the coach's job to motivate, but if some of the players have a shitty attitude, they are gonna have shitty attitude. Money then can not be a good motivator when you just pay them even when they perform poorly. At the end of the day, they'll be content to collect paycheck and not give their best every game, until they are sold to a league that can still offer them a big wage.

Sorry mate but can't agree about Rodriguez. He played when he wanted to and was effective around 40% of the time he did. Nobody is arguing he had talent, he simply could not be bothered to use it. Absolute waste of time. No way you could build a team around that attitude. Also Benitez has already been where we want to go. He is capable.

For the year he was here he was fine. He was worth the money alone for that pass to Richarlison. Some players need to be managed differently. Rodriguez is obviously a bit "precious" but it started early from some quarters about him being lazy etc when that really wasn't the case.

As for Benitez, I dunno, In his prime he would probably fall into that superstar category and he needed money to get his teams to where they got to (all managers do to be fair). But he was doomed from the start anyway regardless.

No, but nobody is suggesting that.

We know there's loads of issues that aren't on Benitez. Loads and loads.

It's just this idea that some people have for some reason cemented in their minds that he's 100% the right man to turn this around that gets me. He's shown nothing in the last 5-6 years to suggest he's the manager that we should have gone for.

Think he might be tough enough not to be doomed and will retain the support of Moshiri. Anyway it is not in our hands so we will see.

But this is the issue with Benitez, he cant turn us around becuase the problems are deeper then him, and will still be present if we replace him.
Ad to that if there was a better option why didnt they, as in this other manager come in the summer, the world new the job was there, but none wanted in.

Right now the problem is Moshiri, but he is at the top, so were a bit screwed

China is an irrelevance, and the geordies were delighted with him. so I'm not sure how that matters at all.

Not a big fan of Benitez but sacking him after this many games is the sign of a team and management that really don't have a clue. If he went who would replace him? Just look at the barcodes money to burn and they're going to finish up with Howe. Mind boggling i bet he can't believe his luck. Like i said not a fan but he now has to be given time and at least some cash to turn around a squad that lets face it is awful.

The Geordies are idiots and if you look at the stats from his time in charge it’s comparable with Bruce.

China isn’t an irrelevance, everybody knew for months that he was leaving Newcastle in 2019 but no other PL club even had a sniff of him and he wound up in China for a ‘project’
