Xbox 360, PS3 Slim

tbh im buying yet another 360 in november.

i need to upgrade my hd + i want mw2 , need a new controller +my headset is getting a bit old.

so im giving one of my older 360's to my nephew and getting the mw2 limited edition super elite xbox360 for £249.99. (250 gb hd, mw2 , 2 wireless controllers , headset and the console)


ps blu ray pfft ! i get hi def films on my tv well enough streamed from the pc/hardrive/xbox live, cheaper quiter + less clutter and future proof.

I dont have either, but from my point of view im gonna be buying an xbox, its the cheaper option, also I heard, might have been lies, that they cant make games for the PS3, not games that utilise the full power anyway, so the PS3 might be better, but they are dumbing down the games for it.

Most games are made cross format, so it must be difficult when 1 system is so much better than the rest.

Just my very, very limited take on it all.

they are making games that can push the ps3 someware near but all multi console games get down graded so they can play on the xbox! so they makje the game worse just so the xbox can play it!

MGS isnt confirmed 100% to be coming out on the 360...and as usual if it does its been out a while.

Everyone knows GT is the best driving sim. Even the GT prologue is better that Forza 3.

uncharted 2 some papers gave the demo 5 out of 5 they even said it was the first time they reviewed a demo!

I've never seen the appeal, but my lads play a lot on their ps2 (as well as their pc & ds) but wifey is suggesting ps3 for them for chrimbo, seems logical assuming it's backwards compatible. But she's now also talking about the wii - I'm pretending not to listen!

ive got the 60gb version plays ps2 games!

but a mate has the other kind but on singstar you can put ps2 singstar games in and they work on any ps3!

so imo its just a software update to allow ps2 to work!

The 60gb can play PS2 games. I have that one. But Sony stopped making them due to cost. You cant get hold of one now.

The readily available ones are the 40gb, 80gb, and the new 120gb silm arent PS2 backwards compatable.

i cant get the kids of the bloody thing!

got 4 ps3 discs and 3 ps2 discs and bought about 15 songs on it too!

costs me a small furtune!

sorry foz , but thats an absolute load of hogwash mate.

a hell of a lot of games are made on/for the 360 and ported over to ps3 and downgraded to work on them . thats a concrete fact.

look at a comparison of some games like fallout 3 for example and you can clearly see that the 360 is a better console graphically and fully utilises its capabilities.

i saw a video online a while back from the makers of silent hill : homecoming and the lead designer spends a few minutes saying why he and the industry hate the ps3 , why the graphics suck on it compared to the 360 etc etc (something to do with cell shading), it was a damning verdict by a top top professional. (should hunt this vid down)

and even at £40 a year for online , its still cheaper than a ps3 package and is a smoother more reliable service with more exclusive content.

ive said it before and i will say it again , most people who have both consoles will spend more time on there 360 and the ps3 is only pulled out to watch blu ray films.

i imagine a lot of people who say xbox sucks own a ps3 and have never owned or even played a 360.(and vice versa tbh)

That's not entirely true either.

The PS3 is a tricky machine to port over games. Sonys machine's always have been since the Playstation. But that is changing. Check out Ninja Gaiden 2 on the PS3 and how much better it looks.

But to make a mutliformat game or making exclusive games in general a lot of gaming developers are prefering the PS3 because of its power. They'll admit its hard to get into, but once its cracked they say its a beast to work with.

Developers for multiformat games are now tending to develop on PS3 and then port over to other consoles as its easier to do it than the other way round - games like Tekken 6, Final Fantasy, Bioshock 2 etc were all made using PS3 tech and have been ported on a multiformat.

As for online. In terms of server issues and general gameplay issues, I've never read or seen complaints about the PS3 online. I agree that the money spent on the 360 will give you more features, help and marginally faster connection. But in terms of just logging on and playing, they're about the same.
