i thought the mgs:rising might not be xbox only , but at the conference the xbox chappy said a few minutes before anouncing it that "all of the following games are xbox only titles" mgs:rising was one of the last titles in that section.

im with you on the downloading games comment ,the hard drive is much too small. its a great service to have but i would need a much bigger hardrive before i can consider downloading full games.
Its a very naughty thing they did over MGS..and it made them look a little silly when it came about that its not an exclusive.

As for the controller..all i can say is meh to it,IF games devs use it to its full capacity then it may well be a good thing but given that most wont use it at all, itll become a novelty item at best.

What does worry me the most though is this game download service,MS and in all fairness all major games companies want pretty much to cut out retail alltogether, this can only be a bad thing as,just off the top of my head they can set the price THEY want too and we'd have to pay it,try and trade in your downloaded game and see how much you get for it:blink:

This is the start of something, longterm that will be bad for the consumer.

I'm being sent Persona 4 through Goozex - Trade video games for Sony Playstation 3, PS2, Microsoft Xbox 360, PC, Nintendo Wii, Gamecube, PSP, DS, GBA, Dreamcast, Mac - Your game trading community atm. Can't wait to play it, should arrive tomorrow.

I do think next year a PS3 will be a necessity though. I mean, there'll be so many reasons to get one by then, MGS4, Littlebigplanet, Final Fantasy 13 and 14, Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles, That ModracerNation thing, The resistance and motorstorm titles, Gran Turismo 5 one day, being able to play Tekken 6 with a proper d-pad, the old Playstation Final Fantasy titles on PSN, God of War 3, Killzone

goes on.

I'm glad I waited it out, because there was absolutely no reason to buy a PS3 up to this point. But it's starting to sway me.
Ive had a ps3 since launch day for it (yay for 60 gig ones, rare nowadays) but honestly it sat in its box untill last christmas when my wife bought me dead space, grat game.

Then i had a look around and bought VC,disgea 3,MGS4,LBP and a few others, its a great console, massively overpriced on launch and still very dear today, but it is slightly better than my 360 elite and miles and away better than the Wii,mainly becuase of those games i bought, untill then the 360 was pissing all over it.

As for Persona 4,had that since launch day (got a yellow teehirt from play.com too) and its frightenling good,in fact i'd go as far as to say its the game of the year by a long way too,be prepared to have the songs in your head for the next few weeks :P

I absolutely disagree.

If anything the prices will be lower, because the shops won't be able to mark them up.

Also, they won't be able to make their money through their shameful swap [Poor language removed], taking a game off someone for like a fiver then selling it for 35 quid preowned. They're demons.

And RE: Linglong, glad to hear about Persona 4! I've never played any of the Shin Megami Tensei games before, but I put Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 on my request list on that site i linked because as an RPG gamer I felt I had to try them.

Try to play P3FES first a few goodies for the next game in it..i didnt, lol and missed out.

Try digital devil saga 1 and 2 brilliant games as is Lucifers call (if you can get it cheap enough) all by Atlus and great RPGS.

As for the 360 download scheme i refer you to Steam, thats the template they'll use and most if not all games are madly expensive when they first come out, indeed looking at the site now i many games far dearer than from online stores i'll grant you thier prices have come down a touch but not by much.

I'll say it again if it goes this way it'll be us the consumer that suffers, but i do take your point about GAME and gamestation and the pre owned stuff but people like it and use the service,me i look for bargains off amazon and play and get my games that way and if it eventually goes digital only i'll give up my gaming pastime tbh.

One great thing about the Persona games, the strategy guides sell for bunches.

After selling my SMT: Nocturne strat guide for $90, I bought 10 Persona 3 Strat guides for $20each held on to them for a year when they were out of print and sold them for $50-60 on amazon.com

I bought 15 Persona 4 strat guides for $12 each and holding on to them for awhile.

Persona 4 is 100 hours of goodness, its even better if you never played Persona 3 before. Almost finished with it and will finally start FF12 after I'm done. Then I'll play Persona 3: FES.

I didn't like the Digital Devil Saga games and quit after about the 20th hour. Unfortunately for SMT games as much as I love the stories, most of the games hate you. I particularly remember the day I quit Persona 2, great story, but they had this one dungeon that was on fire, and you had 30 minutes to get through it. It was easy to get lost in it and the timer kept running while you were waiting for the enemy to make a move and was getting a random battle w/ every other step. They bombard you with an obscene number of random battles like every other step. It drives you mad.

Other good JPRGs in the PS1/PS2 era.

Xenosaga epi 1 (see avatar) is the greatest game ever created. Incredible story and extremely fun battle system that was also challenging. Unfortunately the creator of Xenogears/Xenosaga was fired after it (even though it made money) and the last 2 episodes were a flaming pile of dog feces.

Xenogears (PS1) - Has even a better story than Xenosaga, 70 hours long, and the best cast of characters in an RPG. Xenosaga is a slightly better just becasue its a funner game to play.

Star Ocean 3 - fun RPG to play, story was good until the lousy ending though. But worth playing.

Ring of Red (PS2) - a launch title for the PS2. A fun and different giant Robot Strat RPG.

Shadow Hearts 1-2

Suikoden 3 - Suikoden 4-5 were low budget crapfests but S3 was a spectular game.

Final Fantasy 12 is a great game. It gets a lot of stick from so called 'FF Fans' because the story isn't convoluted bollocks about a transvestite summoning a moon rock to become God or a Witch from the future trying to compress time into a dot in order to (?)

It's very political intruige, and I personally think it has the best gameplay in the series.

Voice acting is smashing too.

FF12 is the only one I've given up on :( Got about 7 hours in, realised nothing had actually happened yet and gave up.

Persona 4 is superb tho, you can tell it's going to be good just from the intro.

With 12 I found that I didn't get into it at all for at least the first 10 hours. There was this desert you had to cross especially that did my nut in, but the further you get and the more gambits you unlock the more interesting and fun the combat becomes, at least to me. Plus the further you get the more Monster Hunts you unlock, my favourite bit of the game.

It's definitely a completely different monster to the other FF games though, which is why a lot of people felt alienated by it. Tbh I was just glad it was at least a semblance of return to form after the diabolical X-2 ruined my favourite game of all time.

Final Fantasy nerd me btw.

Could tell from your descriptions of the other games mate. ZERO TIME. What was that all about, really.

I didn't mind X-2, although I can't really remember the storyline at all and I probably wouldn't notice if I had never played it. X was ace.

For me as well 12 was the only FF i've eevr given up on,35 hours and it just wasnt doing it for me,replaying 10 atm and frankly story, gameplay and graphics knock 12 out of the water.

One thing to come from E3 from sony is that FF7 is now finally avaiable to buy from the store on the ps3,now given i foolishly gave my launch day copy away years ago to a "mate" and never got it back i should be overjoyed at this news, but a couple of months ago my son was asking about the game so we went hlas for a copy on ebay,30 quid it cost us:(,oh well.

nobody has mentioned ps3's motion controller yet !!!

wow they have a stick with a shiny ball on the top .
not being funny or a fan boy at all but i bet sony watched the project natal news unfold and looked down at there stick and said " woops".

i must admit i quite like the new psp:go , but i cant see who its aimed at and wether the improovemnets will tempt anyone (like myself) who currently has an old shaped one to fork out for it.

(wont mention nintendo as there e3 absolutly stank)

just to comment an natal just being a novelty like an eye toy , no way , its far far better than that.the eye toy is to natal what a stone abacus is to a scientific calculator.
from what ive read and seen from e3 , developers are drooling at the prospects of what they can aim for with natal.

also with the commment that game downloads will effect the consumer for the worse, i just dont buy it.
its no different to the effect downloading music and mp3's had on the music industry .
choice + accessibility + variety has gone up and costs have come down.

its cost cutting , more enviromentally freindly , and instant.
the games retailers will just have to get with the times just like music stores.i dont thnk its the end of game retailers but i do think there is going to be a big change in the cost and the way we purchase products from them.
