Well there's some doubt about that. Other places such as Salford, Edinburgh and Innerpeffray in Perthshire (repeat ten times rapidly) can arguably stake that claim.

It's since been clarified: Birmingham had the first library...but all the books had pictures.

….bit odd hearing ‘Jerusalem’ for the English anthem. I though it was ‘Land of Hope and Glory’. i want England to win, but not overly patriotic, perhaps ‘Is this the way to Amarillo’ might ge good. Always prefer the Scottish, Welsh and Irish anthems - proper tunes.

Decent mix of disability events rather than them being a separate games.

I’d watch these games all day.

Boxing at the commonwealth games is a bit dodgy. Quite a few British boxers have stopped boxers from smaller island nations in one round today. They probably wouldn't qualify for European championships.

The mixed triathlon was good earlier.
